Intended for front or surround channel use within a Polk RM series speaker system, the RM201--which is sold and packaged singly--is sleek and stylized, with a sculpted anodized-aluminum enclosure that looks terrific next to a plasma or flat-screen TV. The speaker offers more than just a pretty face, however. The unique shape also breaks up internal standing wave resonance, helping create a pure, more lifelike sound, while the PowerPort venting and dynamic balance technologies produce rich, full-bodied, big-speaker results from a compact housing. As part of a 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 speaker system, the RM201 helps create a dramatic sound stage for DVDs while giving music CDs--especially SACD and other multichannel formats--unparalleled depth.

The RM201 is equipped with dual 3.5-inch polymer composite cone midrange drivers for clear, distortion-free midrange and a high-performance 0.75-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeter for sweet, crisp highs. The PowerPort venting, which hides under the grille, also extends and strengthens the lower midrange performance to ensure a seamless blend with the subwoofer output. The result is a midrange with no "hole" between the satellite and sub frequencies, helping male vocals sound rich and full rather than thin and weak (as with most other sub/sat systems). The sound also disperses broadly throughout the room so everyone can enjoy the results regardless of where they're sitting.

Additional features include a swivel bracket with a hidden wire channel for efficient wall-mounting; threaded inserts on the back of the satellite for listeners who prefer fully articulating mounting brackets (sold separately); an included stand for shelf or cabinet placement; and high-quality five-way binding post connections for the best possible sound. And to top it off, the speaker is magnetically shielded against video interference, so you can place it near your state-of-the-art TV or video monitor without worrying about image distortion. The speaker, which measures 4.5 by 12.5 by 5.06 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a five-year warranty.

I picked up a pair of these to run off of my computer. I'm listening an mp3 on em right now, hooked up to a junk amp meant to power a set of logitec surround speakers and all I can say is wow! Given higher quality power and a better source (dvd audio or CD) it could only get better from here.

I've owned piles of really expensive stereo equipment home/auto and have been through about 4 different surround systems for my computer. I can tell you that you can junk the 5.1 or 7.1 computer surround systems. None sound even 1/2 as good a pair of these Polks.

One thing you also dont really have to worry about is price. Polk pretty much price fixes everything so the cost here on Amazon is going to be as good as anywhere you look. Free shipping wouldnt hurt either! For a bit over 3 bills you cannot go wrong on a pair.

These are some great Polk speakers. They are surprisingly heavy for their size (which points to high quality parts). I mounted them on my wall, and they look fantastic, the sound is great too. I would highly recommend them!
