5.0 out of 5 stars THRILLED!!!
I purchased this product to play my ipod at home, and man, does it DELIVER!! I could NOT be more pleased!! It took about 1 minute to set up, and start enjoying the fabulous sound we've come to expect from Polk Audio. It even has a clever holster for the remote on the back.

I purchased this product to play my ipod at home, and man, does it DELIVER!! I could NOT be more pleased!! It took about 1 minute to set up, and start enjoying the fabulous sound we've come to expect from Polk Audio. It even has a clever holster for the remote on the back.

If you're looking for something to take around with you, this may be too heavy. It's certainly easily transportable around the home, but I wouldn't want to walk around with it like a boom box. Polk makes smaller units for portability. But, if you're looking for an OUTSTANDING home docking station, this one is worth every penny and more.

Best $$ I spent since I bought the ipod...I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mother Of All iPod Audio Speakers!, March 27, 2008

After much researching for the optimal iPod speaker system, the Polk Audio miDock Studio takes the cake! Not only does this great sounding system come with an adapter, but it also includes world adapter plugs just in case of that overseas trip. Handles are also incorporated on both sides of the system, making carrying it even more convenient.

The design is also fantastic. When looking for iPod speaker system, a key feature was to have my iPod "protected," i.e. hidden from top view. Unlike most systems, this one stores the iPod between the two large speakers, safely guarded from accidental damage by someone knocking it off the top.

Another key feature is the playback options. Not only does it have a functional touch pad similar to the one located on the iPod, but a remote is included as well. Both do a grand job of playing songs and adjusting the volume. The remote is IR and quite responsive with little delay.

And what makes the icing on the cake is that there is a remote control holder in the back! Behind the system there is a custom made slot to store your remote, so there are no worries of losing it or misplacing it!

Again, if you are looking for a portable, great-sounding speaker system, this is the one to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, August 24, 2007
This review is from: Polk Audio miDock Studio iPod Speaker System (Black/White) (Electronics)
This is a great dock center. I have an iHome clock radio and have a friend with the Emerson version. This one beats them both. The sound is very clear and strong. The base tones are not distorted at all, even when turned up all the way. I can rock out from across my home. If you are looking for a counter type system I highly recomned this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars PolkAudio MiDock Studio, July 31, 2008
This review is from: Polk Audio miDock Studio iPod Speaker System (Black/White) (Electronics)
For the money, the PolkAudio midock studio has excellent sound quality. The midrange is detailed and open, the highs playback without shrieking and the bass is strong without sounding muddy or booming. Furthermore, it has a good sound stage and never sounds tunneled or narrow. It is easy to use and the ITouch interfaces smoothly with the provided adapter. It's only weakness is that the bass could be more powerful, but then it would cost more money. This is a great value for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Right Expectations, November 29, 2008
This review is from: Polk Audio miDock Studio iPod Speaker System (Black/White) (Electronics)
Set your expectations right and you'll be happy. It's very simple to operate. Straight forward with a clean, good looking design. The sound will not overwhelm you, but it's a nice warm sound with as much bass response as can be expected in this form factor. Just right for a bedroom, kitchen, etc. The laws of physics still apply (despite what bose would have you believe). This unit won't replace a high end 5.1 system, but it's good at what it does- delivering nice sound in a stylish, smallish, ipodish box. Enjoy!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Polk Audio miDock Studio iPod Speaker System (Black/White) (Electronics)
I ordered the miDock from DataVision through Amazon a couple of weeks ago and was excited to set it up and hear the great sound I was anticipating. My expectations were realized for about half of the first song that played, then it just stopped. I tried using the remote control to restart the song to no avail. I turned it off and back on, then removed my iPod Classic Gen 6 and plugged it back in. A couple of songs played - and the sound was again great - then it stopped again mid-song. I repeated this process several times with the same result each time. iPod response to the remote was inconsistent, and never more than 2 songs played all the way through. I may have just had bad luck (like I tend to have in autos) and got the 1 lemon in a 100 sold, but I boxed it up and sent it back and am ordering the Bose SoundDock Portable. Since I had to pay the return shipping ($31, UPS Ground), I was not going to take the chance on receiving another defective unit and end up out $62! DataVision did refund my the full purchase price, so I am whole, less the $31 return shipping.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with iPhone., February 4, 2009

This review is from: Polk Audio miDock Studio iPod Speaker System (Black/White) (Electronics)
This dock will not charge an iPhone 3G. It will play music and does that well but running on battery power and not charging is a big limitation.

With both the 3G and the older iPhone if you receive a text message or a phone call the dock puts out a really loud annoying buzzing noise. By loud I mean really loud and startling noise. So it makes sence to put the phone in airplane mode but then it's easy to forget.

Anyway, to sum up. Great for non iPhones, bad for iPhones.

I picked this up at RadioShack for only $129.99. It's a terrific personal audio system, with capabilities to satisfy small crowds as well. It's not a "boom box" and it has limited bass, but all-and-all worth the money.
