Pollen is a visitor from the far reaches of space, and his mission is to save the Earth from human destruction with the power of his mysterious, living ring. Accompanied by a ragtag group of friends, he journeys across the United States to deliver a message to the president and the world. Earth is about to be destroyed, and unless humans learn to live in harmony with nature, even the powerful ring won't be able to stop it. But as stories of the ring's amazing abilities spread, the ambitious vice president decides the ring belongs in his hands. And he'll stop at nothing to get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK THAT WILL TRULY MAKE YOU THINK!, May 7, 2009

This review is from: Pollen and the Ring of Harmony (Paperback)
I never do reviews but after reading, "Pollen and the Ring of Harmony", I wanted to say something about this very special book. It made me realize the great damage we are doing to our planet and if we don't change the way we are treating it we will loose this special place. I am not a reader but I read this book in one night and that is a first for me. This book somehow changed me into being more aware of our environment. I want to read it again. I totally related to "Pollen", and after a few pages he felt like my best friend. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THIS WORK AND THINK ABOUT IT!, April 11, 2009
This review is from: Pollen and the Ring of Harmony (Paperback)
There are books that are enjoyable to read and carry you beyond your everyday troubles and allow you escape. There are books that shock, scare and amaze you and there are books that simply inform you. It would be difficult to place Pollen and the Ring of Harmony in any given category as there is a little bit of everything here; an offering for all who read it. This work is quite suitable for a wide range as to age groups. I loved it as an adult (a rather old one I might add), but feel that most teens would appreciate it as much as I did.

The plot has been well addressed here by other reviewers so I will be brief. A being from another galaxy visits our planet to fulfill his mission which is in essence, are we as a planet, as a people, worth saving. It is quite obvious we are headed toward self destruction due to our massive destruction of our environment and our unquenchable greed. Is there something here worth saving? Eons ago two planets collided due to most of the mistakes we are making her on planet earth. A large chunk of the two planets, an asteroid, is headed in our direction and its impact will cause man and all living creatures on earth to go the way of the dinosaurs. Pollen is a carrier of The Ring of Power and can indeed save our planet if allowed and if he, Pollen, decides we are worthy.

The author, Francis t. Perry Williams has given us a "Green" SiFi thriller here that is appropriate for all ages. It is filled with action and I must say, filled with much to ponder. Questions are asked in this work that needs answers; the primary one being...are we indeed worthy of being saved as a species? The author is certainly a natural story teller. He has a message and is quite capable of articulating that message through the written word. As those who read my reviews will know, I am a syntax junkie, and I admit that I was well rewarded with this work. The author has the ability to take a rather complex plot and dish it out to us in a manner that would be quite appropriate around a campfire. If you don't feel this is all that difficult to accomplish, well try it some time! The story begins instantly on the first page and the reader is then sucked in, page after page. I must admit that once I started reading this one that I found if difficult to lay down.

The characters in this work, a rather rag-tag group, are all quite believable. You grow to like the good guys and grow to really dislike the bad guys. The author displays a rather deep knowledge of the environment, man, animals, plants and critters in general. The overall theme of the book is "harmony" and I certainly feel the teller of this tale has accomplished this through his writing. I suppose those that are interested in our ecology and the pathetic condition we find ourselves in at this time will be more drawn to the work than those that are not, but this is one that should be read by everyone as it has a very strong message and an important message.

Now I must admit that I identified quite strongly with one of the primary characters in this wonderful novel; Reb, a rather elderly gentleman with a rather elderly dog, with very strong feelings as to what we are doing to ourselves...well, I felt like the author must have followed me around a bit and taken notes. Also, as a side note, I found the first few pages of this work absolutely fascinating. It deals with a rather underhanded land grab between a rather greedy and corrupt government and some very greedy and corrupt business people. As it would happen, this very thing is happening in our state of Missouri as I write this review. This work hit rather close to home.

For something quite different, actually delightfully different, you certainly cannot go wrong with this one. I do highly recommend this work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine parable to instill love for the environment in young adult (or adult!) readers, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Pollen and the Ring of Harmony (Paperback)
Whatever power is used for, people will want it. "Pollen and the Ring of Harmony" is the story of an ecological super hero called Pollen, who draws his power from a ring. From the far reaches of space, he comes to save the Earth from itself and to spread his message of conservation. When he visits with the President of the United States, it seems there are those in the shadows who would rather push their own power than save the planet. "Pollen and the Ring of Harmony" is a fine parable to instill love for the environment in young adult (or adult!) readers.
