Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Ranger Rick's NatureScope is a creative, activities-centered education series dedicated to inspiring in children an understanding and appreciation of the natural world, while developing the skills they will need to make responsible decisions about the environment. Teachers, parents, scout leaders, camp counselors, and anyone else committed to sharing nature with kids will want to collect all the volumes of these award-winning nature guides, filled with kid-pleasing indoor and outdoor acitivities. Each book includes: reproducible "Copycat Pages," with games, puzzles, pictures to color, and more; ready-to-use activities, including arts and crafts, creative writing, science experiments, songs, games, and curriculum tie-ins...with complete materials lists and step-by-step instructions; essays and case studies from leading scientists for group discussion; expanded glossaries and bibliographies. Be kind to the Earth--She's everyone's mother! This book not only teaches kids how to identify the many forms of pollution that plague the planet today, it also shows them that they can make a difference in how clean the earth is tomorrow. Points of environmental science are clearly spelled out, and the school- and community-based projects suggested will help heighten environmental awareness. They include: creating gardens, weather stations, and composting areas; planning community clean ups; reducing everyday pollutants in the watershed; helping out when there's an oil spill; and how to write to lawmakers when an environmental threat looms.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR ALL!, August 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Pollution: Problems & Solutions (Paperback)
Even though the Naturescope series is recommended for grade K-8 I feel as a high school science teacher that all the lessons in this book are adaptable for the older grades. The information and activities in this book are excellent. Any teacher in or out of science could use this book in their classroom. The lessons are very descriptive and well planned, as well as encourage the students with higher order questions and activities. I have and will continue to use this book in my classroom.
