Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Two years of global party rocking have certainly not been wasted on the Greenskeepers, as evidenced by the latest addition to their impressive catalog, The Polo Club: a guitar-driven, post-punk mash-up that leaves you feeling like you're in on a great inside joke. They have already amassed a serious underground following with a wide variety of releases, including a full-length album on the prestigious Classic Recordings. (Their reputation as a group of musically innovative pranksters was cemented by the overwhelming success of "Lotion," an ode to Buffalo Bill.) The Polo Club--as infectious as it is silly, as brilliant as it is bizarre--displays the depth, diversity, and, ultimately, the longevity that Greenskeepers fans have come to expect. With their impressive tour and release schedule, remix work, it seems the foursome is determined not to let them down anytime soon. --Anish Acharya

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the year's best!, December 19, 2006

Honestly, I don't know why EVERYONE isn't talking about and reviewing this collection of fun and funky dance music. I am new to Greenskeeper, and upon a friend's recommendation, dl'd the entire two discs from iTunes - including two bonus tracks that aren't on the cd set. Now I'm buying it for my friends for Christmas. It is so fun, so danceable, yet not too techno or over the top, and the lyrics are great - extremely dry humor. I usually leave the music reviews to more knowledgeable writers, as it isn't easy for me to put into words WHY I love music, but I really can't wait for Polo Club to catch on! Every single track on this 34 (36 on iTunes) is good. You really won't want to skip a one, and how unusual is that? Wish I could compare them to someone else, to give an idea of the sound, but I think they are unique! Sample some songs and then buy this one! I bet it will soon be stuck in your player, as it is mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not usually my cup of tea, but..., July 20, 2008

I really like this CD, even though it's a little more dance oriented than stuff I normally like. Some of the songs make me wonder what the hell happened to my taste in music. Songs like A Week Ago, Wanna New Drug, NY Lady, and Bloodclots erase my hesitation. The music is great, and most of the lyrics are funny or smart. I just hope this CD isn't a gateway to my becoming a techno junkie. Which brings me to another thought. If you aren't really into techno, you would probably do well to just get disk 1 if it is cheaper that way. I don't really care for disk 2, because it is put together like a dance mix with monotonous beats and looped repetitive lyrics, very unlike disk 1.
