Real Old Style Son Band on DVD
as an afficianado of old style Cuban Son [without horns], i enjoyed most of this DVD once i was able to watch it on my computer [it would not play on my NTSC DVD players as advertised]... especially the last half of this live club concert with a high energy, old style Son-styled band with guitar, tres, & violin that contains lotsa "2/3" clave funky dance music [backing...

El Guajiro
The video on this DVD is excellent, there is only one problem, no audio! I tried playing this DVD on my home DVD player, on my computer using Windows Media Player, Roxio Media Player, Real Player and Nero but still no audio....evidently Pimiento Records in Miami still doesn't know how how to make DVDs that work.

The video on this DVD is excellent, there is only one problem, no audio! as an afficianado of old style Cuban Son [without horns], i enjoyed most of this DVD once i was able to watch it on my computer [it would not play on my NTSC DVD players as advertised]... especially the last half of this live club concert with a high energy, old style Son-styled band with guitar, tres, & violin that contains lotsa "2/3" clave funky dance music [backing Polo's singing] that really swings !!! so, if you liked Buena Vista Social Club, i think you would really enjoy this DVD as it is all music [without interviews in the concert part of the DVD] & a much more high energy performance from younger players in the same style... i learned as much watching this DVD as i did watching the BVSC film BUT just be aware of possible problems with playing it in NTSC / US format players... the music is 5 stars- the failure to play on US DVD players is the only HUUUGE problem !!! buyer beware !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
