When I was hanging out at the Fillmore Auditorium in 1967, I thought I was at the center of the musical Universe; many have agreed. Well, we overestimated. "Polyandry" continues the lesson I keep learning: the grandeur of Dutch bands of the Sixties, as represented by Q5, the Outsiders and Group 1850. "Polyandry" reflects the musical maturation of Group 1850; this is not the second coming of the classic "Agemo's Trip To Mother Age"; this is an almost instrumental Trip, with muttered Dutch and plenty of saxophones. If you listen closely you can hear Laika and the Cosmonauts, and the Mermen. Originally released in 1975, this was the Dutch psychedelic band's third album and every bit as good as their 'Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth' CD reissue (see my review). Tunes here I couldn't get enough of (when I'm in the right mood) include the jamming "Jojo", "Between Eighteen And Fifty Part: 1850" and the couple of gems here that are heavily Pink Floyd-influenced - the tripping "Cages" and "Picking Up The Rubber Trees". Another lesser known band that never got their just due. An absolute must-have.
