3.0 out of 5 stars Not enough songs?!, December 14, 2000
This review is from: Polyester Embassy (Audio CD)
The album does have its moments and you can't deny that. However, there are just not enough of these moments - with a total 7 tracks out of the 13 track, which all 7 are superb. However, you have an intro and 3 interludes, which kind of makes the album hollow, since it is simply based on 7 tracks. The remixs are credible. With an album that had a debut single of "Don't Call Me Baby" and a second single "Who The Hell Are You?" - this album is unfortunately overpriced and even at times disappointing. If the album had another 3 or 4 long tracks the album may have been seen in a new light. OVERALL VIEW - not enough songs, but the ones that are there are gems.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, yet still good, February 2, 2001
This review is from: Polyester Embassy (Audio CD)
I was so excited that Madison Avenue was coming out with an album, I bought it the day it was released. Unfortunately, the disc lacks the intensity that would have made it great. I was really impressed with "Don't Call Me Baby" and "Who the Hell are You" - I listened to them constantly (ask the guy across the hall) on MP3 before the album came out. I thought, if this eminently dancable disco-house combo could be replicated on 10 more songs on a single album, then it would be my Album of the Year.

Let's just say I was disappointed. The interludes are especially annoying. It's as if they said, look, we can't put out a 45-minute, 9-track (two of which are remixes) album, so they just scrounged up "This is Your Introduction", "Edible French Chic", "She" and "It's Very Alright" to bump it up to the respectable length of 13 tracks and 53 minutes. If it were only "This is Your Introduction", I would understand. But all four of these, combined with the presence of only 7 songs, make the album quite a disappointment.

I give it 3 stars only out of my love for "Don't Call..." and "Who the Hell...".

I am so pleased that Australia has finally produced an awesome dance music duo. I love the music but I also feel that it isn't too original. If anyone remembers the group Dee Lite? Madison Avenue kind of conjures up memories of them from the late 80's. Over all..... I think Madison Avenue are doing a great job and I am enjoying their CD immensely
