The definitive guide to uniform polyhedra,
By A Customer
This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
This book contains a detailed description of how to make (paper) models of each of the 75 uniform polyhedra, as well as some stellated polyhedra. Wenninger's descriptive and precise writing style is invaluable--his advice on construction methods and techniques are right on the mark. In nearly all cases, he provides sufficient data to allow the reader to draw his/her own templates, but especially in the most complex polyhedra the facial plane data is lacking, most likely because it is too lengthy to include. I would like to have seen more math in this text, and larger photographs. Otherwise, this is a must-have book for anyone interested in polyhedra.

The most definitive modern work of polyhedra I've seen,
By A Customer
This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
I have been fascinated with these structures since my disciovery of this book in 1980. Magnus is a fine builder of models and a competent teacher. The explanations for building each model are concise. I also compliment the photographer. As one begins to understand the underlying principles of these solids, a vast array of options present themselves as topics of further study.

Let patience (and beautiful models) be your reward-,
By A Customer
This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
Since I discovered this book, I've easily spent hundreds of
hours building these wonderful polyhedra. With a good
general guide to model building and clear instructions,
patterns and pictures of the completed model -- the book
provides the raw material for a great hobby. The completed
models are a continuing fascination, the relations between
polyhedra and their symmetry can really only be appreciated
when you have the models in your hands. While I loved
building some of the over 120 models, it requires patience,
a steady hand and practice.

I'd like to recommend this book fantastic like a puzzle.,

This book is like a book on the puzzle.
Most people will hardly guess though he or she doesn't know why such paper pattern this solid can be done. It is very glad when becoming the same as author's paper pattern the result when the paper pattern is made by using the personal computer for myself or using the pencil and the rule. It is the same pleasure as time that was able to work out a puzzle. It is helped very much by a method of author's coloring and a detailed explanation while making the solid with several paper patterns. The reader can make the solid from this book while enjoying mathematics. I recommend this book for the person who wants to enjoy mathematics. Moreover, I recommend it for the person who wants to make a mysterious solid

polyhedron models,
This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
My 8th grade math teacher let me borrow this book for the summer. I enjoyed making the modles, some of the more complex ones I havent been able to do but most are farly simple and easy to compleat with pacence

wow! a definitive work on polyhedra,
This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
i taught a course this summer on geometric constructions and featured regular polyhedra. the brilliant students loved it. then i saw this book. the regular polyhedra are covered in the first few pages if i had this book i could have done so much more. this is fabulous. by the authors estimate some of these models took him a hundred hours. i recommend it to anyone interested in three dimensional geometry.
Do NOT however buy "polyhedron models for the classroom" a very truncated and cheap quality ripoff of this book but by the same author. That book is about 35 pages compared to over 200 for this one, and the quality is low. A very cynical and poor offering that I am puzzled the author would consent to.

Old approach,

This review is from: Polyhedron Models (Paperback)
This book takes an old approach on building polyhedra. Today, the challenge is to fold polyhedra, not to buid them with glue and scissors. Nonetheless, there are here good information about the solids themselves, and this makes this book a good resource to learn about geometrical proprieties of polyhedra. But old school.
