A great teachers tool!,
This review is from: Polymer Clay Extravaganza (Paperback)
I just received my copy of Lisa Pavelka's "Polymer Clay Extravaganza" and what an extravaganza of beautiful projects. I am always looking for great books to recommend to students, adults and children alike, who know that I work with polymer clay. This is the book I've been looking for. Great section on polymer clay basics. I love that the author included wonderful "tip" boxes throughout the book that quickly and concisely educate even the seasoned polymer clay addict. The book is filled with a potpourri of great projects that have easy to follow instructions and the most amazing photography. The projects use a variety of cross-over materials (you know, all the crafting things you have bought over the years and are now in your basement in a box.) Well, get that box out and start claying, "Polymer Clay Extravaganza" gives you the tools you need to make wonderful art from polymer clay. The gallery section is beautiful and an inspiration for any artist.

Outstanding. This book simplifies polymer clay. With clearly written steps and descriptive photos, it made it easy for a novice like me to create fabulous works of art. I have found this book to be such a spectacular buy that for the past few months this is the only book I have recommended to my clay enthusiast friends. This is one book anyone working with polymer clay or interested in getting started, should own.

I've only been doing polymer clay for a couple years but I'm definitely hooked! I never realized such a medium could be used for so many different projects - you truly can express yourself! That is what is so great about the recent book I bought written by Lisa Pavelka, "Polymer Clay Extravaganza". It opened my eyes to a whole new range of projects that I can do with polymer clay! The book is beautifully photographed, making it very easy to follow. I think most readers will agree with me that it is much easier to follow photos of each step of a project, than just relying on mostly written text like some other books on this subject. And Lisa's book is photographed so well! I love every one of the projects in it - although some may stretch my capabilities right now! Another thing, I was lucky enough to meet Lisa Pavelka at last years Hobby Industry Assoc. annual convention. I have never met such a wonderful, caring, person. She obviously lives for this art medium, and she did not hesitate to share her knowledge, answering the many questions I had regarding polymer clay. She even gave me advise on how to to get some of my projects published. I recommend her book to all. It's my new favorite book in my polymer clay library. Definately a must have!

I love this book!!! I am hooked on polymer clay but have been struggling with it for about a year and a half now. I got this book today. Ive seen Lisa Pavelka on the Carol Duvall show and when I heard she was coming out with a book I couldnt wait! Im so anxious to go home and try all of these techniques for myself. The book is clear and the projects are so easy to follow. I think the garden sticks are such a cute idea and I cant wait to try the heart pendant. Finally, a book that has both advance and beginner techniques. I feel like in the past, I would outgrow my books. Now I can learn some techniques, put the book away and come back to it when I need some inspiration. Thanks Lisa Pavelka for coming out with such an interesting and "clayer" friendly book!

This Book did it for me!,

This book finally helped me break through the barrier I had of working with polymer clay. I was so frustrated with other books that seemed to have missing information in the text and not enough pictures. Ihad trouble doing so many of the things I had seen in magazines, books and television, but all of the detailed steps and tips left nothing to chance. Some of my friends liked my first pieces so much that I sold them and have to make more!
I was attracted by the beautiful cover and wasn't dissapointed to find the rest of the book was just as wonderful. I like that there was a wide variety of projects and technqiues.I'm taking the authors advise and trying my hand at customizing some of the projects with different colors and styles. The tone of the book is wonderfully encouraging and just what I needed to get my confidence going with clay; just when I was about to give up. I cant' wait to get her next book.

Very disappointing,
This review is from: Polymer Clay Extravaganza (Paperback)
Sorry, but I have to disagree with the other reviewers. I bought this book on the basis of their reviews, but I really wish I hadn't. There's just not very much in this book. The "tips" that the other reviewers rave about are few and far between, and don't really give much useful information. The projects are cute and whimsical, but if that's not your style (and it's not mine), then you won't find much in this book for you. I'm going to sell my copy.

This book is soooooo much fun. Just recieved it and already made my first project. I have never incorporated rubber stamping with clay and the project(heart picture frame) came out awesome. What fun!!! My family is wowed by my new found "talent" hehe. Thank you to the Author for writing a book that has some simple, fun and creative projects to give the artistically blocked folks some inspiration. Loving polymer clay extravaganza, Katie Helmut

Just when you think you have enough books on polymer clay along comes another one with more new and innovative ways to use this fascinating product. Many of us have been covering pens for gifts but Lisa's clever pen holder makes a cute gift a great gift. Her instructions are clear and easy to understand, the photos are great and the gallery gives us a glimpse of what other polymer clay artists are up to. A "must have" for your creative library.

Great Book!Straightforward Instructions! Outstanding Quality,
By Barbara Emerson (The United States of America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Polymer Clay Extravaganza (Paperback)
I recommend this book even if you are not very interested polymer clay. The project are beautiful and the photographs are impressive. I bought this book for a friend because she is big fan of polymer clay, but I couldn't resist reading through it myself and poring over the photos. I've heard a little bit about polymer clay, but I had no idea what versatile clay it really is. The book is paper back, the photos are beautiful, and the hints are interesting but brief enough to make you want to know more. The versatility of polymer clay was an eye-opener for me. I never realized it was so easy to work with, or that I could achieve such fabulous results so easily. Frankly, I do not understand why the person who wrote the negative review could call this a bad book? The author used Premo clay....I bought some and it was great. I also found that no matter how I worked with it...it never looked dough-ey (which is not really a word). Polymer Clay Extravaganza is the kind of book you can sit down with at night and savor with a hot cup of coffee. Then plan to do the projects the next day, if you can wait that long. By the way, I kept this copy and ordered another for my friend.
