This authoritative and comprehensive multi-author volume provides a useful summary of updated knowledge on polymer composites in general, practically integrating experimental studies, theoretical analyses and computational modeling at different scales, i.e. from nano- to macro- scale.  Detailed consideration is given to four major areas: structure and properties of polymer nanocomposites; characterization and modeling; processing and application of macro-composites; and mechanical performance of macro-composites.

Editorial Reviews

Review

From the reviews: "Polymer composites have been around a long time and are extensively used in many types of applications ranging from floor tiles to stealth aircraft. … This book is an edited volume that addresses a broad range of topics in this field … . There are 18 chapters emanating mainly from European laboratories and others in the eastern hemisphere. … It will be a valuable addition to the library of any group actively developing composite materials." (Donald R. Paul, Materials Today, Vol. 10 (1-2), January-February, 2007)

From the Back Cover

This multi-author volume provides a useful summary of updated knowledge on polymer composites, practically integrating experimental studies, theoretical analyses and computational modeling at different scales, i.e. from nano- to macro- scale.  Detailed consideration is given to four major areas: Part I deals with the structure and properties of nanocomposites.  Part II focuses on some special characterization methods and modeling in the field of polymer composites.  Processing and applications of macrocomposites makes up Part III, and Part IV deals with mechanical performance of macrocomposoites.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, April 18, 2010
This review is from: Polymer Composites: From Nano- to Macro-Scale (Hardcover)
First off this book is a collection of articles that have half-way been arranged into a book. I read Chapter (the review article on Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Polymers) it is missing many things and certainly not comprehensive. I am surprised too since one of the authors is Gojny, who has made significant contributions to the field. For a much better review of cabon nanotube-polymer composites I would look toward the 2006 article in Carbon 44 by Coleman or review's by Thostenson in Composites Science and Technology 61 (2001) and 65 (2005)
