Polymeric microfilters are used for the removal of contaminants of micron and submicron size in the ultrafine purification of liquids. Typical uses include the preparation of aviation and automotive fuels and oils, sterilization of pharmaceutical preparations and cold pasteurization of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. In this book the author describes the physicochemical principles and process for the production of microfilters from solutions, powders and fibrous dispersions of polymers. It presents data on the structure and properties of microfilters and looks at aspects of the applications of the microfilter materials and process microfiltration equipment.
