This book is an archlogical textbook. It is dry as dirt. It is quie informative, but not particularly exciting. As Polynesians left no written history (except for the Easter Islanders, but no one can read their script, rongorongo), their history is gleaned from pottery, tools, and building types. After the fifth island group's adze type, well, things get quite dry. But reading about theories on how they migrated from east Asia across the Pacific can really fire the imagination. I recommend this book to anyone seriously interested in Polynesia.
