The Pro-Fly is a classic V-Omega boomerang with a range of 30+ meters. It is made from a very durable polypropylene material and is priced for volume sale. It makes a great gift for kids over 10 and adults like it also (yes, even the 50 year old variety!). Boomerangs are a great leisure sport as there is not a lot of running involved if you throw it correctly. It gets kids outdoors and gives Mom and Dad some excercise also. This boomerang is designed by former world champion Eric Darnell. It is a real, working boomerang and not just some plastic in a V shape. It has great wind resistance and works well when it's calm too! Use it as a sports model for casual throwing or modify it for Boomerang competitions. Instructions are embossed on the underside of the blades plus it comes with an 8 page, illustrated instruction manual. An excellent first time, general purpose boomerang at a GREAT value. Threw this boomerang and caught it on the first try!

Really easy to use (read directions first!). One issue that came up was its long range (20-30 yards .. 60-90 feet) which we needed to find a bigger space (since it got stuck in the trees). Other than the trees issue, though, the boomerang was PERFECT. I bought the scimitar (which is great for nighttime throwing), but love this one even more since it's very reliable once you figure out where the wind is coming from.

Hot: Flight is smooth and doesn't change, easy to throw, caught it on the first try!
Cool: Made of durable plastic (crashed into a tree a couple times and it's okay!), feels like a good weight not too heavy or too light
Not so hot: Long range makes it hard to throw in a small space

I got this boomerang for my son, age 11. He read the reviews and liked the looks of it. It was great at first: it really did come back, he was able to catch it, and when it inevitably ended up in a tree, the bright orange color was easy to spot for rescue. However, my son was able to use it about 3 days and then one of the ends chipped off. I'm looking for a kid friendly boomerang that can handle some impact without breaking, guess I'll check out the wooden ones.

I admit I am far from a boomerang expert, so I am not going to compare this boomerang to other boomerangs. I purchased this product for a high school calculus project (demonstrating the real world applications of math, or in this case, airfoil design and gyroscopic precession). This boomerang is made of a sturdy plastic; it's heft and weight is reassuring. I can't imagine this thing breaking under anything less than phenomenal stress. We threw it many times; it landed on grass, concrete, and even hit a metal sign in mid-flight, yet all it has are a few minor scratches and did not bend perceptibly. If you are not careful, you can very easily injure someone with this. Anyway, I would completely recommend this product because of its reliability, durability, and general awesomeness.
