Who are these guys? Who cares? The album is great anyway!,

This review is from: Polythene (Audio CD)
I bought the CD for 1.99 because my brother said he had heard their release, Cement, a few times and they sounded alright. I bought it and listened to it, and was amazed. A band I had never heard of played a variety of great pure rock songs(Tangerine, Cement, Radiation, Forgive) and some great soft rock songs(Suffocate, High) blended to gether in the form of an album that has stayed among my favorites ever since I bought it. The Feeder boys deserve more fans than they probably have now, but if they keep making albums like this, they should get more.

Feeder Certainly Rock !,

I actually bought this after the first album, "Yesterday Went To soon" due to liking it so much. If you like alternative rock indie your love this, the songs vary from a mixture of depressing but lively tunes( if you get what i mean) to a happy rock ballard which are really catchy. My Perfect Day just sticks in your mind and just keeps going around until you have to play another tune to get it out of your head.! High lyrics just take you places you have never expected with yet another catchy tune. A real recommended buy, if you like easy listening alternative rock which you sing too I would say better than there second album.!

Well worth a look...,

I was never a huge Feeder fan until 'Buck Rogers' was released in January 2001, however, even after buying the single my interest soon wore off. But, after seeing them live supporting Stereophonics (my favourite band) in November 2001, I realised just how amazing they are! I imediately went out and bought as much of their back-catalogue as possible and haven't regretted it!'Polythene' is the bands first full-length album, released back in May 1997. It took me a while to get into this album as it's alot heavier then their more recent material and I'm not a huge fan of punk rock. But this album is not just loud guitars and screaching vocals like you might expect. If you give it a chance, you'll realise there is actually some really amazing songs underneath what at first appears to be nothing special. The singles 'Cement', 'Crash' and of course 'High' are great and the little known album tracks like 'Radiation', 'Change' and 'Forgive' really make this album shine. There is nothing really disappointing about this album and as a package its a great listen, but personally I tend to skip the likes of 'My Perfect Day' and 'Tangerine' as they are potential headaches. All in all this is a little listen, not the best debut but stick with it and it's true colours will shine through. It's one of those that grows on you over time. Tracklisting:

This was Feeder's first album proper after the mini-album "Swim" was released. This album boasts Feeders live sound to the extreme and was by no wondering that this was Metal Hammer magazines album of the year in 1997.This version of the album contains a slightly different tracklisting and unfairly dismisses "Waterfall" from the original release that charted at No90 (this one got No65), but don't let that put you off!, as the newest track on here titled "High" which was Feeder's first bona-fide hit reaching No24, will without doubt be a treat to your ears once you hear it, and you'll be wanting to hear this beauty time and time again!!. As for the rest of the album, it is full of heavy guitar energy and blasting riffs, which made me reach for the air guitar and then the real thing!!, and I hope it does the same for you too!!!. One for anybodys collection, and had Jon Lee's drumming energy written all over it:), not forgetting the lyrical and guitar playing genius of Grant Nicholas, and the skilful bass playing of Taka Hirose!!

This album is further evidence of how tastless the rock music listners of today are. This album is SOLID MUSIC, thought out, honest, meaningfull, extremely listenable, and musically sound, yet has nowhere near the success (finnacially) that much less talented bands of the same genre have enjoyed. With this album, Feeder reminds us that solid songwriting and attention to the music, and some originalitiy are a sure-fire way to come out with a good album. This album doesnt recieve five stars simply because it isnt incredible. Five stars reviews belong to albums from Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and others of that mythical proportion, and, Feeder is not comprable. It doesn't matter, though, because these guys seem to foucus on writing good songs, and playing good music.

Stadium rock stars of the future,
This review is from: Polythene (Audio CD)
Right from the start of opener Polythene Girl, you know this Birtish trio has conjured up a real treatt for rock fans. WIth influences from all manner of groups, Radiohead, Bush, Foo Fighters and Bon Jovi probably more than anyone else. Writing guitar pop is no hassle for the UK trio, as Cement and Stereo World prove, and this is but one string to this bow. Many songs have both slow and fast sections, Descend and Forgive doing this especially well. Of course their balladier tracks High and Suffocate have caught much attention, andd unquestionably both are among the standouts, with neat thought-out lyrics, sensitive music and a nice line in reaching a peak. For me it is My Perfect Day which steals the show, being powerful and touching. I was going to only give this 4 stars, as a few of the later tracks are less impressive, especially 20th Century Trip, Change and Tangerine, but the sheer energy and class to the other songs makes me overlook this. A great buy if you like rock in all it's forms.

Feeder are an amalgam of Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Bush. And like the latter, they'll probably make it bigger in the states than their homeland. Grant Nicholas has mastered the art of hook laden choruses and it shows. Standout tracks include "Polythene Girl", "Cement" and the fantastic "High". Only one gripe, they should have included the single version of "Suffocate" as it's far more superior than the album version.

Feeder are one best bands i have heard in a long time. There mix of soft rock and punk creates an absoloutely brilliant album from start to finish."High" is obsiously the best song on "Polythene" but all the other songs after a few times of listening to them become as catchy as"High".I advise you to buy this album as soon as you get any money.
