4.0 out of 5 stars The Beach Girls - a classic of the genre
If you collect jiggling ... movies from the seventies and early eighties like me, The Beach Girls definitely needs to be in your collection. This movie harkens back to a more innocent time when all you needed was a rich uncle's beach house, a few college age bimbos, and eight garbage bags of weed washed up on shore to have a rockin' good time. Before buying this video combo package I tried in vain just to get the Beach Girls by it'self but could not. As always, I read reviews of products when possible and found after buying this product that it is indeed true what many other reviewers have said. Pom Pom Girls is a total waste of a movie.

Where this movie really delivers is in the area of jiggling naked .... I don't think the movie goes more than five minutes without delivering real, non-surgically altered mammaries. The Pom Pom girls is pretty forgettable, except for seeing Robert Carradine in an early role.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, August 1, 2003

What could be better than The Beach Girls on DVD? This is the softcore flick shown to death on Cinemax in the 80's in all of its glory. Funny storyline that is a pleasure to watch after all these years. Funny, good lines, good characters, and, of course, there is plenty of flesh from the ladies. For what it is, this is a great movie.

The DVD is clear, the sound great. The chapter selections are a little lousy and there are no extras. As for Pom-Pom Girls, I haven't watched it yet.

I personally sat down to give it a chance just in case bias was involved but was quickly bored by the SLOW moving story, plot and everything else.
Beach Girls on the other hand was and is still the '80 fun filled teenage romp movie that it was intended to be. Sure there's alot of stuff that would never happen in real life but who cares. It's a fun movie with a quick up beat to it.
If you get this DVD, be sure to watch the Beach Girls and if you run out of coasters at a party be sure to put Pom Pom Girls side up to compensate.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's got Debra Blee---and that's reason enough!!!, August 13, 2005
I'm the first to agree The Beach Girls is far from hilarious,but considering the rotten state of the teen-sex genre ever since Hollywood stole it away from the little guys {like the whole !!#%!@#!&!! American Pie series!},this 1982 film,hearkening back to the '70's drive-in,is like a breath of fresh air!AND---it's got Debra Blee,whose topless scene is far more than she did in the few other low-budget films she did!{Including her ridiculously miscast as an "rich b*tch" in Malibu Bikini Shop}

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes you back to a simpler time......., October 13, 2005

I love the "Beach Girls"! This movie kicks some serious butt!! This movie is a great example of 80's fun; back when people, life, and movies were much more carefree. There was no "Just Say NO" campaigns and no AIDS - just a lot of people who wanted to have the most fun they could possibly have!!

Uptight Sarah (a beautiful Debra Blee) is staying at her rich Uncle Carl's luxurious beach pad on Paradise Beach for the summer. Lucky for her, she's invited her two wild, hot, out of control partying girlfriends Ginger (Val Kline) and Ducky (Jeana Tomasina) to join her. While Ginger and Ducky are making the drive out to Uncle Carls place, they pick up hitchhiker Scott (James Daughton) and bring him along for the ride.

As soon as the girls arrive they waste no time in getting the party started. First item of business: BOYS! So they pick up the phone book, order them selves a pizza boy, a repairman, and anyone else they can get to show up.

Its not long before the party is raging- the clothes start coming off right away and everyone is drinkin, dancing, and getting high. This is all very exciting for the local gardner (a fantastically funny Bert Rosario), who watches in awe and excitement at the going on's around him.

Its not long before Uncle Carl gets word of the party, so he hightails it down to put a stop to it. Not wanting to be a jerk, he tells Sarah that her friends can continue with their party through the evening, but they all have to leave in the morning...including Ginger and Ducky. Of course, the two bombshells overhear this, and set out to seduce Uncle Carl with sex, drugs, and booze in an effort to win him over.

Theres also a small subplot with the Coast Guard trying to infiltrate to some weed smugglers by boat- who end up dumping several trashbags full of pot overboard- where they eventually are discovered by none other than Ginger and Ducky the next day.

So whats to do??

Throw the wildest party ever! And they sure do!

During party night #2, Sarah (whos been falling for Scott) decides she is tired of everyone telling her to "lighten up" and decides she is gonna follow in the footsteps of her two girlfriends.

This movie is filled with plenty of T&A, clichés, and drug references. Its pure mindless fun, but fun nonetheless!!

A very enjoyable, simple and silly movie!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

As for the "Pom Pom Girls"....never seen it but the DVD is worth it for the "Beach Girls" alone!!

4.0 out of 5 stars No Plot, Bad Acting, Bad Direction. It's a HIT!, April 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pom Pom Girls (DVD)
I got this on DVD simply because it was made the year I graduated high school (1976) and I was right, it's full of flashbacks of the pathetic 70's, which I can now look back on and laugh. My daughter is stealing the cheers from this movie to use on her high school squad now! Bad hair, wild clothes, even some nudity (girls but no boys). A horrid generic soundtrack really brings out the best in mood setting. And why does every high school kids type movie, no matter what year or era it's made or set in have to include a 1955 Chevy? Classic 70's B movie camp. Buy it and make your teenage kids sit thru it. Then they'll understand you a lot better!

3.0 out of 5 stars The pom pom girls vs. the beach girls., September 3, 2005

It is a good thing that the pom pom girls comes on the same disk. Otherwise it would barely sell at all. I got this selection for the beach girls. I remember watching it on cable in the 80's. It was a good 80's movie. Silly, funny and yes a good amount of T&A. The pom pom girls, I didn't see the last half. It was boring.

The title pretty much says it all. This movie was made to be forgotten if you bothered to watch it at all. Basically it's a forgettable Seventies high school comedy that might strike a nostalgic chord if you happened to have been there. Others be forwarned. This flick was not so much made but manufactured for the drive-in audience. It was designed to be triple-billed with other innocuous fare for a teen audience with little to do on a Saturday night. You can stop at any point and neck with your honey and you're not going to miss much. You can gauge what's going on if you really care. "Schindler's List" this is not. Tagged with an "R" rating at the time but pretty tame by today's standards. Can't recall any female nudity but there is a shower scene in the boy's locker room that's pretty discrete.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a low budget film!, November 26, 2000
By
I bought The Beach Girls because I seem to remember describing a girl going swimming in the nude in the movie when I first saw it (or what I think was this movie) in the third grade to another girl who gave the typical "Ewww!" that many non-nudist girls would. If you like movies from the low-budget teen raunch era, add this to your collection. It is obviously low budget and at one point in the movie an overhead "boom" microphone gets into the shot. However it is still a very good movie for its kind.

4.0 out of 5 stars The summer is not over without a Pom Pom Girl, July 31, 2011
The Pom Pom Girls (1976). Running Time: 89 mins.

Another low-budget movie assured to give you T & A. Directed by Joseph Ruben.

Rosedale High School football player, Jessie (Michael Mullins) and Johnnie (Robert Carradine) are teenagers in heat for the Pom Pom Girls, Laurie (Jennifer Ashley) and Sally (Lisa Reeves). They would do anything for a kiss and a make-out session.
Their jealousy is towards the class stud, Duane (Bill Adler) who always gets the girls, including Sue Anne (Susan Player).
With the first week of school, no discipline, what do you expect.

Contains male and female nudity.

Also in the cast: James Gammon, Lou Fant, Cheryl Smith, Diane Lee Hart, Sondra Lowell.

Filmed at Chaminade High school, West Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Nice songs by Michael Lloyd, "Baby Love", You're Gonna Find Love"
