Book Description

This marvellously illustrated review of the literature dealing with fruit from antiquity to the Industrial Revolution addresses in its first part the fruit literature of specific periods, from the earliest parchment and papyrus testaments to fruit's glories to the scientific fruit literature of the 19th century. The second part of the volume offers a detailed, critically annotated bibliography describing over 600 fruit-related works. Abundant b&w illustrations, as well as eight color plates. This review is from: Pomona's Harvest: An Illustrated Chronicle of Antiquarian Fruit Literature (Hardcover)
After extensive reading on apples through history, I found this be very helpful. Well researched and nicely illustrated. Suggest also Brown9ing's The Story of the Fruit of Temptation, French's the History and Virtues of Cyder, and Juniper's Story of the Apple.
Can't go wrong.
