A gorgeous book!,
This review is from: The Pompeii Pop-up (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my two young granddaughters and was thoroughly entranced with it myself. It is brimming with lush drawings and fascinating information about this wonderful historic place. Definitely worth the price. More than just a coffee table book. Beautifully rendered.

This review is from: The Pompeii Pop-up (Hardcover)
Spent the fall reading all seven volumns of Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series and this a delightful compliment to that reading and enchanted the child with-in. The the clever pop-ups and enhancement of a holiday treat to myself - it is something I take out of the draw (and put the cats in another room) and can loose myself in this book for many special moments.

This book will surely remain in my extensive collection of pop-up books. The text is informative and well-written, the illustrations are beautifully done, and the mechanisms give a three-dimensional view of ancient Pompeii and of the excavations done since the catastrophic eruption for which Vesuvius is well known. It easily earns its five stars!

Pop-up book should interest kids,

Although this book has a couple of nice pop-ups some of the pop-ups (such as the People & Homes section) were of no interest to the kids. The biggest disappointment is the section on the excavation. It would have drawn the attention of the kids more if there were pop-ups of the casts of bodies and locations.

Pop-Up Book Worth Buying,

This review is from: The Pompeii Pop-up (Hardcover)
Lately, I have purchased a great deal of pop-up books. I thought this was one of the best. It has a variety of flaps with miniature pop-up scenes and additional information about the history of how the people of Pompeii lived and ultimately the eruption. The larger pop-up scenes are really intricate. Finally, there is a drawer connected to the book which consists of additional pop-up scenes that you can manipulate.
This book is a must buy!

It's been years since I've browsed through a pop up book...usually they are made for fairly small children. This one, the Pompeii pop up, is geared towards young adult to adult readers; I bought it as a gift for my eleven year old granddaughter, who is very interested in Pompeii and ancient history in general. This coffeetable size book is very well made, the pop ups are intricate and durable, and I found it to be informative and worthwhile. Very recommended!

I have been looking for a book on Pompeii for a 10-year old who visited the site this summer. This book is fun, informative and well engineered - no inappropriate graffiti which was a major concern of mine. I recommend it for kids of all ages.

My six year old visited Pompei when she was only a baby so I felt this book would help her picture exactly what Pompei was. The book is pretty good but, in all honesty, it was bit pricey and not the best pop up book I have seen. While my daughter enjoyed it, going back, I would try and find it second hand instead of paying full price
