5.0 out of 5 stars Dependable
We have two of these. One is 250 gph and one is 500 gph. They've both been running 24/7 for over a year and we haven't had any trouble with either one of them. The filters are easy to get out and clean and replacement filter media is readily available and inexpensive. Just make sure everything is properly and securely reconnected if you take them apart so baby fish won't...

the product made from good material, however it is very difficult to maintain, i have to clean the filters every week, not like my previous pump where i cleaned the filter every 6 to 8 weeks, also have difficulty keeping the filter submerged, have to put a couple of bricks on it

We have two of these. One is 250 gph and one is 500 gph. They've both been running 24/7 for over a year and we haven't had any trouble with either one of them. The filters are easy to get out and clean and replacement filter media is readily available and inexpensive. Just make sure everything is properly and securely reconnected if you take them apart so baby fish won't get sucked in. We've never had a problem getting the hose reconnected or putting the thing back together.

We haven't noticed that our electric bill in any worse because of these.

Our pond is approximately 300 gals with goldfish and plants. We loosely cover the pond in the winter with greenhouse plastic (using a dome-shaped frame made of PVC sprinkler pipe) so the pumps can continue to run and provide aeration for the fish all year long.

UPDATE: June 18, 2009 - both pumps are still going strong. I am currently buying new sets of filter media as the original filters have finally started to fall apart -- although they are still usable, they are just getting shaggy looking and I'm not sure how much longer they will really be effective. We have continued to run both pumps 24/7/365.

Amazing product. Looks great in the pond, doesn't bother the fish, easy to clean ~ and it works! Our pond has never been this clear continuously. We are thrilled.

I have this pump in my 300 Gallon fish pond. I didn't use the fountain set, but instead bought a 15' 3/4" tube and ran it to a waterfall. I added an in-line UV clarifier after the intitial set-up. Keeps my pond crystal clear (with the help of the UV) and the waterfall sounds wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works very well., April 13, 2010
This review is from: Pondmaster 02215 500 GPH Pond Pump with Filter and Fountain Set (Lawn & Patio)
It is a good pump. the only problem is that you have to put something heavy on the fountain part so it will stand up straight and the wind won't blow it down.

I have been using the Pondmaster 500gph since Aug 10, 2011. It certainly does a good job of filtering out "stuff" in my 400 gallon pond and my water is clear. It's easy to clean. It did tend to float so we put a piece of slate in the bottom of filter box as suggested (unscrew 4 screws & put in slate). This extra weight keeps the filter from floating. I am not using the fountain because I bought tubing and connected tubing to an old fashioned handpump so I can have a water fall. I am located in central NC. bkm 9.5.11

This filter seemed like a good design at first glance. However, after running for only about 24 hrs it stopped working and we were unable to get it to start again. Therefore, it isn't worth buying at any price.
