I have been using Pond's Cold Cream nearly my entire life, and that is no exaggeration. I took dance from age three, and once I got older, I became introduced to "stage make-up," which just mean everything is over the top. This is what my mom used to remove her make-up every night, and what she used on me to remove my dance make-up after recitals. Once I started wearing every day make-up on a regular basis, I used this as well, and still use it to remove make-up to this day (nearly 10 years later!). My mother has dry skin, so she just uses the Pond's and then a moisturizer (she likes Nivea in the big blue jar). I have oily skin, so I use Pond's to remove my face and eye make-up and then follow up with a regular cleanser (Neutrogena Naturals) and a light, night moisturizer. My eyes are sensitive too, and this is the only thing I've used that doesn't make them burn. I also feel that it removes make-up and impurities better than my cleanser alone. When I am lazy and don't use the Pond's, there is always make-up residue on my towel.

Also, please do follow the directions on the back--it says to remove with a warm wash cloth & that is what works best. Some friends have complained that it doesn't come off, but it will not rinse off by just splashing your face with water. This review seems a bit long, but that just goes to show how much I appreciate this product.

This is NOT the original classic Ponds cold cream. Unilever bought Ponds and added a lot of yucky chemicals to this product (yes, the classic cold cream your mother and grandmother used safely for years that had a wonderful smell).

Here are the list of ingredients of the new "classic" Ponds:

Mineral Oil, Water, Ceresin, Beeswax, Triethanolamine, Behenic Acid, Fragrance, Ceteth 20, Cetyl Alcohol, Carbomer, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Methylparaben

Of DMDM Hydantoin, note:
A study found "An increase in the use of DMDM hydantoin in cosmetic products will also inevitably increase the risk of cosmetic dermatitis in consumers allergic to formaldehyde."

Yep, that's right. Unilever has added a formaldehyde producing chemical to your grandmother's cold cream!

We all know that parabens are bad. But what about Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate?

"Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate is used as a preservative in cosmetic formulations; it is acutely toxic by inhalation and should not be used in products that can be aerosolized or inhaled."

You will have to use Ponds cold cream while holding your breath, I guess.

What about Triethanolamine? it is a:

Known human immune system toxicant
Human skin toxicant - strong evidence
Human immune and respiratory toxicant - strong evidence

In short, Ponds Cold Cream is now a toxic soup of chemicals. Our grandmothers and mothers did not have to put up with this kind of poisoning. Why should we?

Please call Ponds and ask them to bring back the original formula! Tell them that you do not wish to be poisoned with these new chemicals! 1-800-909-9493

Wow, I've tried a million cleansers but once I notice that I'm developing blackheads or pimples,I'm back to Ponds. I guess it bothers me a bit that I might be considered using an " old lady" product. Yet its the only product that has been "real". It is wonderful to use slather your face with it in the shower and leave it on for a bit. Then take a warm washcloth, wipe your face and then splash cool water. If you don't wipe with a warm cloth, it will be difficult to remove. I find that it helps keep my skin clear and deeply moisturized. It really is an awesome product. I make sure that I always have two extra jars because I'm afraid to run out it. Anyway, I'd rather be a pretty old lady than a young lady with problem skin.

I ordered another three jars of this after the first batch was, indeed, the original formula. Unfortunately, even though I ordered the identical product, the next order was NOT the original formula! I was disappointed, as the second order was a gift for a friend who has sensitive skin and can only use the original formula. Amazon, as always, was wonderful. They refunded my purchase price. It would be nice if Ponds could stick to the original formula for its "Classic."

I only wear make up a few times a year so one bottle last me for a long time. Does the job to get rid of everything. Greasy to put on and wipe off, but leave my skin soft. A good face wash after using either Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, For all skin types, 16-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2) or a glycerin soap either generic or Neutrogena Original Formula Bar Soap, 3.5 Ounce will do. Love this product and have been using it for years.

It's the best cream to remove makeup, especially the eye makeup. I have been using this Pond's for 42 years, and it is the best!

Why is it that we can't get good ole' Pond's Cold Cream anymore? I thought this was it by the description and picture. Then on getting it, it also says "makeup remover". Is this just to sell it to the modern woman? It's close... but not exactly like it used to be.
