All 3G iPads have a built-in proximity sensor that is designed significantly to reduce the iPad's transmission power when it comes within 10mm of your body. This power reduction serves to lower the radiation levels (the specific absorption rate or "SAR") you experience-low enough to meet Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") and international safety limits. Until now, however, cases for the iPad have covered its antenna and also triggered the proximity sensor. So your iPad's transmission power might decrease by up to 75%. Now, Pong's unique case design and embedded technology allows the iPad to be used as designed. Pong keeps the iPad antenna and proximity sensor exposed to optimize transmission power, while lowering the SAR rating by up to 83% below the FCC limits. I have to admit that I had some reservations about spending $100 on a case for my iPad. While researching cases I stumbled across an article in WIRED online. In the article they did some pretty in depth testing that showed the benefits of reduced radiation and preservation of the out going 3G signal while using this case. I can't say that I noticed the reduced radiation but I do know that while using Skype my transmitted video appears better using this case than with the other I had. The material used, fit, and finish are top notch. The case does ad a little weight and thickness, but looks really good and seems to be protective (though I have not dropped it). Overall I'm pleased with my purchase and plan on keeping this case.
