Every workshop needs at least one vise, and Pony's incredible clamp-on vise is perfect. It's completely portable and clamps onto any table up to 2 inches thick. The sliding handle turns like a charm, and you're set. For such an incredibly inexpensive vise, the jaws are really wide, and they even have a serrated surface, with an open capacity of a full 2-1/2 inches. We can think of a thousand uses for such a handy device. It's like an extra hand whenever and wherever you need it. Pony's earned its reputation as a maker of fine clamps, so you know anything in the distinctive bright orange color will do right by you. This is no exception.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

It is well made and very strong.

It held the mower blade tight with no movement at all as I sharpened it with a rough file.

I am very pleased with how well this little vise works. I make silver jewelry and this was one of the few vises I have found with smooth clamp faces. I use it to draw wire, make bends and hold pieces for detail work. It is solid enough for some heavy hammering-on, and the screw is precise and smooth in operation. A very well-made tool.

It is a light duty clamp but that is 90% of the clamping that I do. And this thing will fit in a pocket of your toolbelt. Not comfortably but what the hey. I now make sawhorses a bit longer so I can throw this on whenever I want to. Expands your capabilities like growing another hand.

It's a pretty nice clamp and it does what it is supposed to do. Seems solidly built with little lash in the moving parts. Jaws are neither textured nor ground flat -- just a painted, cast finish which seems a little bit cheap. Otherwise it's a nice unit!

I was a bit surprised at just how small this thing is. Did not read the description all that well. That said, it works very well. I am able to clamp it to my bench and work on an AR, using the AR magazine well vise block. It is well made and very strong.

Used this clamp to put together my AR-15 lower. Made it pretty easy so no worries there. It's small enough to use on most table tops and solid enough to not worry about it breaking down on you.

It clamps snug to a bench, and does not move, however the working clamp is not impressing me so far. I've tried clamping several things, from copper pipes clamped lightly to solid steel tool bits clamped with maximum force, and no matter how lightly or tightly I clamp things down, the working piece seems to move around in the direction of the openings. The whole thing is painted a glossy orange, including the clamp jaws, so maybe I need to sand that down. It's like the jaws need to be knurled or something to give it grip. Perhaps the intent of this small vise is to use it for delicate items, and the smooth surface helps things from being damaged, but so far I'm using this for tools and other heavy duty things, so I would appreciate some better gripping power.

I may edit my review if I decide to sand the jaw faces and they start to grip better, but right now I'm not terribly impressed.

The Pony Light-Duty Clamp-on vise does exactly what it's supposed to do. It securely clamps material to be worked on. My first project using the clamp was sharpening a 22-inch lawn mower blade. The Pony vise clamped securely to a 2 by 8 shelf. It held the mower blade tight with no movement at all as I sharpened it with a rough file. The vise is compact but surprisingly sturdy. I tried clamping a 2 by 4 piece of wood in the vise, and it held firm as well. Obviously, this is not a tool for heavy jobs, since it is simply not that large. But for light-duty household work, it's a fine tool at a good price.

This little baby's the bomb! $20! Are you kidding me! I didn't have to drill any holes to attach it to my workbench and it functioned perfectly to assemble my AR lower. It's small but has good clamping force. Buy it!
