It is poorly written and full of mistakes - unbelievable how many - never saw anything like this!.
K. Okuda
The pattern, for its part, is incomplete and poorly written, referring to an "option" that is contained in yet another book that is out of print and unavailable.
Barbara Stanbro
I guess I can't just rate this as "NO STARS"...so I had to select one, but would not have even made that choice had I been given the option.

As an experienced quilter, I looked forward to receipt of this beautiful quilt pattern, despite its hefty price tag (as quilt patterns go). Upon receipt, I was disappointed to learn that the piecing entails a new-to-me technique called "square in a square". No problem. I'm game for learning something new, but this meant the purchase of yet an additional book and ruler, also at considerable expense. I learned of these products directly from the designer's website. Alas, when I tried to start on the quilt, I discovered that I STILL didn't have the correct ruler or instructions to learn this new technique. The pattern, for its part, is incomplete and poorly written, referring to an "option" that is contained in yet another book that is out of print and unavailable. In short, it is impossible to make the quilt using this "pattern" even with the purchase of additional items. After investing somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 for pattern, instruction book, and ruler, I still am unable to even get started. Buyer beware!

I guess I can't just rate this as "NO STARS"...so I had to select one, but would not have even made that choice had I been given the option. I have been teaching quilting for 25 years and I have never dealt with such a pattern. While the quilt is lovely, the book is flawed on so many levels it would be difficult to explain them all. It has you cut fabric that is not needed for a particular block; tells you to cut one size which is incorrect; and the use of the "trim to fit" is as unprofessional as I have ever come across. The directions are basically worthless without purchasing another book for the "options" and then to find out that all of the options used in the pattern are not in that book. If you proceed, do NOT start with block 1. It is one of the worst blocks. Work your way through the smaller errors in the other blocks before attempting to do this block. It is an incredible mess and obviously little to no copy-editing. I guess the first clue should have been that she didn't even give the size of the quilt in the book. The history was interesting, but one wonders how accurate it is since nothing else seems to be too accurate. Fortunately, my classes who elected to do this quilt, purchased kits, rulers, books, etc., will be over next month. I doubt seriously if we will attempt another such disaster. Like others: Buyer beware!

I am in the process of making this quilt. It is poorly written and full of mistakes - unbelievable how many - never saw anything like this!. For example, it says in the pattern to make 20 blocks of block 10 when in reality it quilt has 28. If you purchase the kit it does not include the border fabric nor the binding. Nice pattern but buyer beware of getting either the book or the kit. Amazing that the author has not made an errata or tried to fix the pattern, but instead keeps on selling her products like this to people at quilt shows!
