I've used the materials in this kit to teach 3rd and 4th grade kids about rocks and minerals -- it is a blast! We've done a number of the suggested experiments, including identifying the different rocks and minerals using streak and hardness tests, growing crystals, etc. And, when it is all over, you have two very nice displays -- one of rocks and the other of minerals. I highly recommend this kit for homeschooling and for teaching elementary school kids about earth science.
