A Honey of a Book,
By mommyilene (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pooh (Giant Board Book) (Board book)
This is a wonderful book! My 19 month old son loves hearing this book over and over again. He can point to the pictures and name the characters. He is familiar with this story because is is part of one of Pooh's adventure videos. This pictures are wonderful to look at and remind me of the 'old fashioned Pooh'. The words are very large and make it easy for a child to follow and point to while 'reading' the story. Definitely a family favorite.

this book along with all the Pooh board books was used at my autistic grand child's speech therapy sessions. She loves these large print board books and reads them over and over. Hope this helps someone out there.

This is a nice simple book for small children. I have it standing on a shelf as a decoration in my daughters Winnie the Pooh themed nursery. I purchased one for my friend also! I love it and plan on ordering the Tigger book soon!

My son was bored with it quickly,

This is truly old school Pooh. It's cute, but didn't hold my 21 month old's attention for very long - the color illustrations are not current or vibrant enough & the story is over very quick. Pooh get's stuck in the door because he eats too much honey & it takes them a week to pull him out - questionable story line -

THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS,
By
This review is from: Pooh (Giant Board Book) (Board book)
Winnie the Pooh is as important an "advisor" in my daily living at 39 years old as he was my "real, living, advisor" under my arm all day at 4 yrs. old.
The best gift one can give a child is the Pooh book and the Pooh bear. I still have mine, and have seen others' books and bears everywhere from the Rich & Famous' mansions to the poorest farmer. Scott ======================================================================== Postscript: 12-13-07 - I know Winnie the Pooh would have loved to be with me this holiday night! THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS If I were a Travel Writer, this story would be titled "Where to Break Down in New England." I was in the small town of Lincoln, Massacusetts last night, in the middle of a snowstorm, when my car broke down. Having forgotten my cellphone, I trudged through the heavy snowstorm to the nearest house to call my car service. I will admit I was a little apprehensive to just ring a complete stranger's bell - - - and I was sure the homeowner would be even moreso. I could not have been more wrong. When the door opened, a warm rush of air from a blazing fireplace instantly warmed me up. I was greeted by two smiling, welcoming parents [their small children were playing a board game in front of the fire], who told me to "come in out of that cold!", their faces and voices showing real concern. When I explained my predicament, and shyly asked if I could impose on them and use their telephone, I was guided to a big armchair with a telephone next to it. Before I phoned my car service, the Mother insisted that I give their address and telephone number to the car service and that I wait in their house for assistance to arrive. Thirty minutes later, the car service phoned that they were there, and the Father threw on his jacket and told me that he would "go help", to my protests. After another 1/2 hour, the Father strode in, said that "your car is fixed, all warmed up, and waiting for you in the driveway...." By that time, warmed thoroughly by the roaring fire, settled too comfortably in that big armchair, and enjoying the cookies and cocoa with the Mom and her Monopoly-playing children, I felt so at home! It was a brief moment - - - a little over one hour on a snowy Thursday night. But the whole experience - - - that home; that blazing fire; and the genuine cheer, kindness and generosity shown to me there, in my calamity - - - have made me grateful ; but more than that, so much more optimistic, in this Holiday Season, and beyond. Of course, Pooh likes that very much. Thank you for reading my story, Scott Fitzpatrick

Well done but a little short on text,

This book is pictorially a success. I loved it and I'm too old to be a kid any more. I would like the editor to focus on better syntax in the English though; I really had to augment the text with more of my own comments for my daughter because what text is there is quite terse (short). I wonder if Warren Harding wrote the text???
