I enjoyed reading the Pool of Unease. I was traveling to Beijing and wanted a novel that was set in the city. This was a quick read but fun to look for the places mentioned in the story. When I returned from China I also looked for other books written by Catherine Sampson. It is certainly not necessary to read all the books with the Robin Ballantyne character to appreciate the books, each one is complete on its own.
