Product Description

The award-winning PoolSkim uses the power of the water returning to the pool to create a venturi suction that draws all floating debris from the entire area of your pool -- even where debris collects in dead spots. Leaves, helicopters, bugs, grass clippings, hair, pollen...even dust are drawn to the PoolSkim like a magnet and collected in a sturdy nylon mesh clip-on bag. The patented design of the PoolSkim sets it apart from most automatic pool skimmers in debris removal and durability. The PoolSkim effectively removes debris from all areas of any size pool, while improving circulation. Constructed of high-quality polyurethane and PVC pipe connectors, the PoolSkim will last season after season. If you want a first-rate automatic pool skimmer that will solve your pool debris problem and will give you more leisure time to enjoy your pool, the PoolSkim is your answer to keep your pool sparkling -- season after season! I researched the web and read all the reviews at Amazon regarding the PoolSkim In-Pool Surface Skimmer. The reviews were so good, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Pool Skimmer for this summer season. Bottom line: The Pool Skimmer works beautifully. My daughter had a bit of a problem using the instructions to assemble the skimmer - the instructions were not too well written (at least not for us gals); however, once assembled and placed in the pool, the skimmer hat created a swirling vortex of water and immediately started scooping in the bugs and leaves - so much so that it HAS to be cleaned out every day - which is a cinch to do. The Pool Skimmer, in conjunction with my automatic robotic cleaner, maintains my in-ground pool almost without any assist from me. My robotic cleaner cleans the bottom of the pool and the Pool Skimmer cleans the top of the pool - neither interferes with the other. How can you beat that? I highly recommend the Pool Skimmer for anyone who has bug problems in their pool. The Pool Skimmer has been an excellent investment and worth every penny.

We bought this item because we were spending a lot of time hand skimming the surface of our pool. This item has reduced this effort by at least 75%. Additionally, we have stopped using the automatic vacuum because not as many leaves (and other large floating debris) makes it to the bottom of the pool.

There are only a couple of draw backs:
1. The directions are not clear. The company should create an installation video and put it on YouTube.

2. The mesh on the collector bag is not fine enough and let some larger particles through.

We have a 16x33(17,500 gallon) in ground pool.

The Holy Grail of having a pool is to own it instead of it owning you. The first year of pool ownership is the hardest. Ph, Cl, and Buffer tests. The cost of chemicals. The endless cleanings. It seemed like I maintained the pool more than I swam in it. No more.

I soon discovered multiple time, labor, and cost savings. Borax from the supermarket, Muratic Acid from the hardware store, Baking Soda, bleach, and chlorinating tablets from the membership clubs. Electronic testing meter and strips (as I am color blind this is essential). Automatic chlorinator that takes the tablets. A cheap robot to handle the bottom. The extra thick silver solar cover and reel. If only I could eliminate skimming - and keep more debris from the filter - that would be awesome!

My pool is vinyl - one inlet and one outlet with threaded PVC fittings. The fittings are about a foot from the corner of the pool. After a hard day's labor installing a split rail fence and getting home to what would become a long power-outage, I decided to install the PoolSkim I bought at the end of last season.

As other reviewers noted, the documentation is very unclear. Dreadful, really. Here is my version. Turn the pump off. One of the threaded parts go into the inlet (return from the filter, the thing that puts water into your pool from the filter under pressure). Using two of the three elbows and the straight piece (which you will need to cut eventually with a hacksaw or similar) the goal is to get the big round skimmer base 2 or 2.5 inches under your typical water level AND place it parallel to the side of the pool (looking at the in and out fittings - keep 3" away from the side of the pool at the closest spot) AND make sure the top is level with the pool AND have it connect to the fitting you screwed in.

This product is amazing, who ever thought of it was a genius, it has saved me hours a day trying to keep bugs out of the pool. All I need to do is start the pump and within 30 minutes or so the who pool has been skimmed. Very easy to install also.

The two best labor-saving gadgets I ever bought for the pool were the Polaris Poolsweep 280 and the PoolSkim. The Polaris gets all the leaves that sink to the bottom, and the Poolskim gets a lot of the floating leaves.

We have an older 19' x 38' in-ground pool. It only has one 9" skimmer basket and it can easily get overloaded during the leaf-dropping season or the pollen season. The Poolskim basically adds a 2nd skimmer to the pool. It catches a lot of the debris before it can get into the main skimmer. I have the Poolskim installed on an return outlet about 6' upstream from the main skimmer. It gets first chance at the leaves.

I bought an extra bag for the Poolskim. That's so I can install a fresh clean bag, and let the full bag dry out in the sun before I empty it. It's easier to empty it completely if the leaves are dry.

I also turn the bags "inside out". That way, the interior doesn't have any rough edges to catch on the leaves.

Because we have an older pool, we don't have the standard 1.5" threaded return outlets. We have small 3/4" outlets. I had to go the hardware store and buy some PVC fittings to make an adapter to neck it down from 1.5" to 3/4".

It might seem expensive at $100, but it's one of the top two labor-saving things you can get for your pool. I'm completely happy with it. It's worth the price.
