Works well for getting the leaves out of the pool, works as advertised.

Our pool is surrounded by a million trees that dump vast quantities of leaves, pine straw and all sorts of other debris straight into the pool.

I'd also like to see a finer mesh net so it would keep in the fine stuff.

It's not like this is a complicated piece of equipment, but it's made the cheapest way possible. The worthless tabs that connect the vacuum to your pole will break after a few uses unless you're very careful. Use a bolt and screw instead so you can aggressively maneuver the vacuum around your pool. Any aggressive movement when using the cheap plastic tabs will result in the vacuum popping off the end of your pole and then you've got to tow it back in using the hose.

The hose connection is also extremely poor quality and located in the most inconvenient place possible. You'll never get a perfect connection which results in a spray of water coming out from the hose connection which you must take into account when vacuuming or else you'll end up blowing leaves away from the vacuum. Due to the poor location of the hose connection, if you get a "tight fit" you'll be struggling with this plastic beast trying to remove your hose, scraping your knuckles and never. quite. getting. a grip. on the plastic connector.

However, due to the low-tech nature of these things, once you get started it does a pretty good job of picking up leaves. Just bide your time while slowly vacuuming your pool with thoughts of how you would improve this plastic toy and develop a "super vacuum" that accounts for all the flaws in this cheap plastic vacuum. I believe most of us with pools would gladly pay twice as much as this overpriced vacuum for a leaf vacuum that was of higher quality.

Tips: put a tennis ball in the leaf bag to keep it floating above the vacuum. Use a metal bolt instead of the cheap plastic tabs to connect the vacuum to your pole.

I have used this for two seasons now and have had none of the problems mentioned by the previous reviewer. It's true that you have to go at a leisurely pace, but that's true when vacuuming, too. Just a fact of life. Before I discovered this item, I had to use either my regular pool vac or a manual pool rake when picking up the early fall leaves, prior to covering the pool. This goes much faster and is easier to use. It doesn't even cost much more than a quality pool rake.

This thing works. It saves a LOT of time & effort. Someone commented on how 'cheaply' it's made - welcome to the world - EVERYTHING is made that way, but having said that, this is no more 'cheaply' made than a vacuum head or any other pool product. Unless you're a gorilla or are just not careful, it should last for a while. I notice the replacement bag is $9-$12...I think I'd just use a mesh laundry bag - they're a lot less expensive... The one reviewer that suggested putting a tennis ball in the bag to 'float' the bag so it doesn't flop over, making it difficult to suck up leaves had a GREAT idea - worked like a champ. One thing I will say is - the hose connection leaks...but since it's leaking water back IN to the pool...I really don't care. Well worth the $$

This works great! I have used much smaller versions for our hot tub. But was told by a friend to try this in our pool. We have a 15' x 30' pool that is surrounded by several trees and this quickly and easily cleans them all ~ both at the top and bottom of the pool. I would recommend this to anyone who has to deal with leaves and debris on a regular basis!

I purchased this item because I have a constant problem with leaves and other plant debris at the bottom of my pool. I wanted something that would clean this stuff up without it going into my pool filter system. Well I read all of the other reviews of this item and decided to try it. This was one of those rare products that actually WORKED PERFECT right out of the box. The set up is real easy the mesh bag goes over the lip of the white ring you see in the picture. The bag is held on by a very simple draw string. I hooked it up to my garden hose attached it to my pole, dropped in the pool and once I turned on the hose the Big Sucker lived up to it's name and sucked up all of the crap at the bottom of my pool. I have a 3-5-3 pebbletec inground pool. I am very pleased with this product and would not hesitate to recommend it. So yes if you need something like this just 2 words......buy it!

I bought this about a month ago thinking I would use it to pick up the large volume of leaves and such that blow under the cover when the pool is closed. However, we had a bad storm overnight to find a very messy pool littered with a lot of leaves so I decided to try the poolmaster. During the season I rely on for my polaris to keep my pool clean, and it's great but the small bag would need to be emptied frequently. I put together the Poolmaster, and like others, found the pin difficult to get through the holes and can see that it will probably need to be replaced with something from the hardware store. Having said that, it's a snap to operate and overall it really does the job, and quickly. I was pleasantly surprised. This really beats using a vacumn system that attaches to the skimmer and dealing with losing prime, not to mention the small capacity of the skimmer basket. For me this is a keeper.

When I think about the time I wasted with a stupid skimmer. This thing works wonderfully. Definitely use the tennis ball in the bag trick mentioned here, as well as putting your own shutoff between the hose and the vac, so that you can shut it off for emptying. Using these tricks I never had a problem and had 2 years worth of leaves (cover fell in) out of my pool in no time.
