this is the antidote...,

...to all that wack stuff. i pick up all Bigg Jus releases, the man works with staggering consistency. i find the beats on this album much more accessible than the nms albums. as always the rhymes are concious, intelligent and thought provoking. i wanted to temper the praise of the first review but have to say it really is that good. presumably you're checking this as a co. flow or just a Bigg Jus fan but either way you need to pick this up. as good as black mamba serums for me, real solid at thirteen tracks, it's dense like a white dwarf. beats and poetry with the caustic flow make this one of the albums of the year. lone cats. and kev brown are nice too. peace

Being Poor Is Not A Crime [4 Stars],

I couldn't agree with the previous reviewer more. On to the review though.
Poor People's Day is the brainchild of former Company Flow emcee Bigg Jus and G Man. The lyrics can go way above your head if you're not familiar with the teachings of the 5% Nation, but Jus' theories and beliefs are so interesting and thought provoking that they make it all but impossible to turn a deaf ear. Since the production takes a backseat to the lyrics, it makes for the perfect backdrop for his messages of uplifting and waking the poor. The sound from G Man is hard hitting and fierce. The only problem is that the lyrics may be inaccessible to the common listener.

I'm a little different from the other reviewers, I'm not feeling everything Lune TNS drops, most of it is dope, but some of his other albums are too weird for me, I liked the first NMS album, but other than that I haven't heard anything that I thought was all that great until I got this joint, the beats on this thing are easier to listen to than anything else I've ever heard Juss rock over. Great concepts, beautiful samples and Juss doing what he does best, being informative and dope. I can listen to this whole album start to finish without skipping a track, but the standouts include "Supa N---a", and "Orbital Mechanics".

a very conscious and spiritual rapper, one of the few hip-hop albums that deserve to be in anyone's collection some very deep issues covered here, hot production, and I'm sorry to the other reviewer El-Ps a cool producer, but comparing is ignorant, review on its own merit and the DJ G Man did a pretty good job, in my opinion ground breaking!!!

Intelligent hip hop for the socially conscious listener.,

Big Jus (of Company Flow fame) is back to drop his second solo project. DJ Gman who handles the production this time around supplies Jus with solid beats and cuts, (though not on the level of El-P's beats), they do the job. Big Jus (as always) is a lyrical monster and continues to shine, blending new-school poetical styles, with classic NY boom-bap.
This is a must have for any Co. Flow fan or any one who likes intelligent and socially conscious music.(Also check out "NMS" Jus + Orko).

This album is artistically and poetically brilliant. Bigg jus is someone who has an understanding of the world that few people have. When is the last time that you heard a rapper mention the IMF, world bank and privitization.
Poor peoples day speaks for the 80 percent of the world who are victimized by corporate capitalism and U.S. imperialism. This album details the intolerable oppression of the people of the world, but it is also somewhat of a jumpoff or catalyst for change. At one point, Bigg jus reflects on the U.S. supported Coup-d'etat on venezualan president hugo chavez........wow..(by the way, hands off venezuala, i'm looking at you, U.S. gov.) Bigg jus please keep making music for music fans who read, think and appreciate uniqueness.

Bigg Jus has definitely done his homework on this one. Too bad he did no production on Poor People's Day, but his trademark brilliance and careful, studied delivery is on on display. Pick this one up!!

Who in the planet possesses better lyrics, flow, concepts, & magical soundscapes than Big Jus and his former co-partner EL-P?....(Aesop...close but no cigar).....Ex Company Flow member (same legendary crew who brought back Hip-Hop independant as F*%k at its rawest form!), Big Jus, drops a scientifical, socio-political album that is truly unmatched and untouchable! Easily a classic right up there with "FunCrusher Plus"!....Jus continues his off beat 200 words per minute, lyrically enhanced verbal laser light show over hard-thumping/unique/alarming beats...(the year 4000 version of Kool Keith without the pimping)...Easily leaving ANY emcee on Earth right now intimidated after hearing a few tracks on this album...Where do i even start? "This is Poor People's Day" energy scorches through flesh like a lava eruption!...The oral equivalence to the Cyclop's optic blast on "When they Start" with its intergalactic feel and multi-blade swinging, rhyme dicing storm!....You know what?...I am not gonna even comment anymore........Buy this mark of history! And when u do....you tell me if the mainstream likes of Biggie's "Ready to Die",,,,,2pac's "All Eyes on Me" come EVEN remotely close to this man's material.....They ALL (every stinking rapper EVER!! excluding a slight few) sound grammar school compared to perfection like this here!.....Again, ain't noone touching cellestial type of emcees like EL-P or Jus....keeping it 3000..Ladies & Gentlemen this is the new......Cop it or remain blind....Nuff Said

I understand everybodys endless obsession with the speed of big juss's lyrics because i hate a lame simple flow, but that has nothing to do with what makes a rapper. This album sounds like big juss was trying to make a dope underground album, which he did, but thats not the point. The point is making good music which this album sits borderline on, company flow we're tha illest but not because of complexity (which the underground is far too obsessed with) but because it was original and dope, they came with something new. This album just sounds like a race with eyedea and busdriver in tha fastest rapper contest which means nothing, its tight but i would gladly sell it for a copy of an old simple pharcyde or juggaknots album, hip hop is just getting too rudimentary and precise, this album would have turned out much better if he just wrote some sick lyrics and spit em over some sick beats.
