This review is from: Poor Story: An Insider Uncovers How Globalisation and Good Intentions Have Failed the World's Poor (Paperback)
This is an excellent book. I worked for an NGO in Southern Africa. This book very accurately describes some of the problems and it focuses on the underlying problem which is economics. If you plan on doing any kind of humanitarian or charity work, you should read this first.

This review is from: Poor Story: An Insider Uncovers How Globalisation and Good Intentions Have Failed the World's Poor (Paperback)
A deeply disturbing insight into how the West is failing Africa and what we can do about it - by an aid industry insider.
The Author has been closely involved in Africa and its development for more than ten years as civil servant, diplomat and aid worker. Well researched, clearly and enjoyably written. I'm inspired and moved by the revelations as should every citizen who's taxes are wastefully and negligently spent on a supposed worthy cause. |
