3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Soundtrack But Beware!, June 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pootie Tang (Audio CD)
I LOVE the movie and own it, so I naturally needed to eventually get the soundtrack, especially for the Erykah Badu song 'Southern Girl' which is seriously bumpin'. Unfortunately, I found that my copy after purchasing it was a 'clean' version, as in the profanity edited out(and the phrase in the song 'Poison' that says 'me and the crew used to do her', the 'do her' was edited out). Dayummmm! I like my art unedited, thank you very much. I ended up contacting the seller about it and they gladly refunded me my money since there was nothing in the product information to the fact that it was edited. So ask the seller BEFORE you buy if their copy is edited or not. Then again, there was nothing on the actual cd that indicated it was edited either from what I saw(I suppose that when new this cd had a sticker on the outer cellophane saying it was edited that went into the garbage immediately).

Otherwise, I loved the soundtrack. Anytime I listened to it, it would make me laugh since some of the songs actually reference characters in the movie and caused me to recall certain scenes in the film. Most of these songs are pretty enjoyable and jammin', even the slow ones, albeit fairly stereotypical R & B. Nothing too innovative here but as long as it reminded me of the movie and brought a smile to my face I didn't mind too much. There are a couple of old school songs on this with Zapp's 'I Want To Be Your Man' and Bell Biv Devoe's 'Poison', but some old school can be good. There's even a song by Shaq that's not too bad.

But, beware of edited cds!
