5.0 out of 5 stars pop memories of the 60's
It all depends on the songs you like for yourself "CLUNKER" or not. I play them in the PUB with people over 35-40 but over that age at least I get heavy compliments from the crowd there and the other BAR. Many of these songs are VERY well known and famous songs and we can even pick the ones we want to play for desired effect and atmosphere. What we like is all...

an interesting collection, typical of time-life. The songs are more smooth and relaxing than typical rock. Melody is king for this set. Most songs are familiar with little new or discovered material. Truly middle of the road but enjoyable.

The decade of the 60's was rich in great music so you'd think this one would be a slam-dunk and full of great songs. But no, it's almost as if the songs were chosen very lazily and with no passion for the times.

For every two great tunes you get, and there are quite a few, you also get a real clunker. What is the old saying..."even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once in awhile". It seems someone was quite blind to all the classics which could have been included on "Pop Memories".

I picked this up for way below full price but I'm still disappointed in it. However, to be fair...I noticed that if you can find the extended 18-disc version of this collection you'd likely find it more balanced and complete. More true to the theme Time Life intended. After going through the track list of that collection recently I realized that many of the greats were buried in the more obscure last eight discs of both this collection and their "Flower Power" collection as well.

So I'd recommend the full 18-disc collections in both cases.

If you like the 60's you'll love this collection. A great selection of songs. Only snag was when I downloaded the CD's to my computer, some of the play lists did not match up with the songs that were actually on the CD's.. MFG glitch but if that is as bad as it gets...it's all good!

Good collection. Quality is very good. Selection of music included in the collection was well done. Not quite as nice as Romancing the 70s, for instance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pop hits, December 1, 2011

This is not rock-n-roll hits, it is pop hits. I have individual group CDs for the rock-n-roll. I love it. Nostalgia as I get old. Sound is good, no defects in any of the CDs. So much better that the scratchy records I had. Money well spent. I just wish the Wayne Newton hit could be erased. (Man, I really don't like Wayne Newton).

I really enjoy listening to all these songs. I was looking forward to these cd's but didn't think I would get THAT much enjoyment out of it. For people who are more romantically inclined, it's a good buy and I will recommend to all my friends :-)

I bought this and had it delivered to someone else, following their instructions. The price on Amazon was much better than retail. The product arrived at my firend's place in a timely manner. I cannot review the actual product but since they were music CD's I imagine they were fine. The seller did his/her job, which was to process the payment and get the product shipped in a timely fashion. Thanks.
