Moonlight muzak knick knack paddy whack, September 28, 2007
This review is from: Pop Musik (Audio CD)
Robin Scott got his musical mind touched by the finger of God exactly one time, and his genius moment came in the form of "Pop Muzik." That 1978 International smash made him one of the most glorious one hit wonder songs of all time, a pre-synth pop mash-up of disco beats, keyboard hooks and nursery rhyme lyrics so unavoidably catchy that saying "New York, London, Paris, Munich" will still get you a knowing smile. It was a cool enough song that it hit the charts a second time with a 1989 remix, included on this CD.
But when pressured for more than that, "M" was running short. The remainder of his debut album is long on cleverness but short on memorable material. The dance hit "Moderne Man/Satisfy Your Lust" is the best thing after the hit, and "Cowboys and Indians" is a close second. The rest of the album has not aged all that well. But you can get this for those three songs and still get yourself a dose of adrenaline. For "Pop Muzik" alone, M's debut merits 4 stars. Besides, when those robotic female voices start droning "pop, pop, pop, pop music..." you know you won't be able to stop yourself from joining. "Now you know what I'm saying. Hit it!"

Gotta love them to own this one, October 24, 2011

Being the 80's nut I am, I was excited to get my hands on this CD. Track 1. Popmuzik helped define an era I loved. While it never fails to thrill me, the subsequent tracks bombed with one brilliant exception. Track 12. Moonlight and Muzak ['92 Remix] was an unexpected (and until then an unheard) treat. A bit pricy to find out you only like two tracks. Buy the tracks if you can and save yer dough.

I heard of this album from my son and decided to buy it for my collection. No regrets at all. Very nice disco music. All songs are good, a couple of them outstanding.
