I didn't appreciate how the book made the main character appear to have no sense of self.

This book is a perfect read if you are looking for something fun and entertaining. Pop Tart delivers exactly what it sets out to . . . nothing serious, but a humorous look into the world of pop stardom. We've all seen the headlines that make this story ring true, but it is still a lot of fun. This book is what it is, and does it very, very well... a perfectly entertaining read!

After hearing all the hype centered around this book I just had to buy it.
I read the whole thing in 'ONE' day because I couldn't put it down. I highly suggest Pop Tart for anyone interested in finding out about what really goes on in Hollywood from authors who know what they are talking about.

Excellent!!!

I'm a sucker for celebrity magazines and blogs, and Pop Tart really hit the spot. It's behind-the-scenes look at a younger Britney Spears at this day and age is tantalizing and you want Jackie to succeed despite the famous Brooke constantly bringing her down in the dark celebrity spiral. You feel bad for Brooke at how vulnerable she is from the Hollywood vultures our there, but it shows just how emotional Pop Tart can be and a much better replacement to read than some just-as-fictional tabloids. I'd recommend Pop Tart to anyone who has ever been curious to what it would be like being in the "it-group" with a young pop star.

Ive only began to read this book whenever I am in between class but it is pretty interesting if you ever dreamed of going to hollywood or just love celebrity gossip. The story line is beginning to be a bit dragged out but the way it is written is like a daily journal so the fact it is drawn out allows you to forget for a second it is fiction.- you start to really place people and yourself in the characters shoes of "what if i got a dream job in hollywood" there is alot of exciting things that any love struck girl would enjoy. great getaway read :) glad I got it

Pop Tart is different than a book I'd normally read, but I liked the cover and the back description sounded good so I gave it a try. It was better than expected. Im not really into the whole tabloids thing and reading up on celebrities, but I liked to see a little bit of how the other (wealthy and famous) half lives. I totally pictured Brooke Parker as a mix of Myley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan and the Emerson Brothers as the Jonas Brothers haha.

Got an advanced copy to read and enjoyed it. It's a great summer beach read. A nice eye-opening experience into the crazy entertainment business, too. You take one look at these girls, with all their talent and money, and think they've got it together but... Obviously Julianne Kaye saw a lot as Britney's makeup artist. I hope she writes another novel; there's got to be more deep dish out there she can share with us.

I had high hopes for this book. The back cover made it sound interesting but once I got into the story, I realized that the authors pretty much took all the InTouch and US Weekly magazine articles about Britney Spears' life and turned it into a book. I can't believe that it took two authors to produce this book. They didn't bother to change much about Brooke's life (notice that even the first letter of their names are the same?), Brooke's from the South, Brooke goes on tour as a boy band's opening act, Brooke is dating a guy in the boy band (whose name is Jesse-quite similar to Justin Timberlake), she's has a pop rival similar to Christina Aguilera...the list goes on. They even lift the facts that Brooke loves fairies and vanilla candles, facts that any Britney fan can recall Britney talking about circa 2000. I guess I wouldn't be bothered as much if the two authors has shown a little effort to make Brooke her own person and not a carbon copy of someone real. It would have made more sense for them just to write a tell-all biography about Britney herself.

So that rant's over and I have to say that Jackie, who is supposed to be the main character, isn't really that great either. I didn't really care for her character. She can't stand what Brooke has become when she's messed up on drugs and alcohol but she doesn't discourage either and seems more than willing to accompany her at the parties. Overall, Jackie comes off a little to whiny and unlikable to me. I wasn't pulling for Jackie to find a great guy or succeed in her job, which is bad when you feel you can't root for the main character.

The book was just a disappoint to me and I've already put it in my pile to donate or garage sale.

POP TART took me two weeks to read as I kept putting it down, until I felt strong enough to force another chapter upon my poor eyes...

To be honest; the only reason I bought this is because, like most people, I used to daydream about being rich and famous, so wanted to get a sense of what the world, daily life, and people who work for & generally mill around the Hollywood set are like. So I'll give this a star for the glimpse we do get into the lives of the other half.

Even though I did get a peek into the life behind the lens of a superstar, there still wasn't anything in the story to hold my interest for more then two chapters at a time.

It boils down to the fact that we've all read this story before in papers and rag mags all over the world; the authors are telling the Britney Spears story, in the guise of a 'fictional' novel.
It seems lazy to me that two people wrote this, but made very little attempt in dressing up the fact that they've copied Ms Spears' life and have basically bundled a bunch of magazine articles together and called it a day.

Take various tabloid stories + change the names of the people involved = Pop Tart.
