5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pop-ups!!! Very Fun Book! For for everyone
This book was awesome!!! I dont know why several reviewers complained. Norman is right, they are WAY to critical! If you want a full version go and buy a full version. This is a great compliment to any full version. I would Highly Recommended it as the pop ups are really fun and look awesome. If they overloaded the book with all of the original material it would take away...

1.0 out of 5 stars Flaccid Pop Flop
I was very excited about this book. I'm sad to say it was a great disappointment. The premise had great potential as a unique, entertaining gift book perfect for couples. However, the six pop ups are not very complex and break easily. The text consists of excerpts, and is not as good a read as the complete original. Despite the book description, the pop ups do not...

This book was awesome!!! I dont know why several reviewers complained. Norman is right, they are WAY to critical! If you want a full version go and buy a full version. This is a great compliment to any full version. I would Highly Recommended it as the pop ups are really fun and look awesome. If they overloaded the book with all of the original material it would take away from the Beauty of the pop-ups. The colours and pages are very Beautiful, all of the pages are glossy and its a hardcover (which is about 1 square foot surface area btw. I thought it would be a smaller book b4 i received it). 5 of the 6 pop ups have tabs that you can pull and make the pop-ups move. The suspension pose looks really cool when you move her up and down, up and down hehehehe :) I'm sure that if its a party a couple or just a person reading it, they will find it very enjoyable and get a good laugh here and there. Very Fun book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amusing, January 22, 2004

This is a very amusing book that would be good for something like a bachlorette party. It's not for those serious about the subject, and is rather short.

I was very excited about this book. I'm sad to say it was a great disappointment. The premise had great potential as a unique, entertaining gift book perfect for couples. However, the six pop ups are not very complex and break easily. The text consists of excerpts, and is not as good a read as the complete original. Despite the book description, the pop ups do not represent the most unique and wildly acrobatic (sexual) positions chronicled by Sir Burton. I can only recommend this book for those with lots of spare change to spend on unusual (but rather mundane) books. Buy the original, and skip the pop up version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Bachelorette Parties, June 27, 2005

This book is beautifully illustrated in a traditional Indian style, very detailed. The pop-ups themselves are fun. I wouldn't recommend this book for someone who really wants to learn the positions, but it's a great novelty for someone who can handle the risque nature of it. I gave this to a friend of mine at her bachelorette party and it was a big hit, even over the skimpy outfits and novelty "sheaths". I've gone back and bought extras to keep on hand for other such occasions.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lousy as a pop up, December 9, 2003

I bought it for the novelty of the popups. But the popups are lousey. Not one works like you think it ought. Such smart idea, poorly done. Text is nicely layed out but that is not why you are buying this book, to read, I am sure. Plan to be disappointed...

The pop ups are pretty cool, and there is a lot of history in the book. It is a pretty large coffee table sized book

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing as a pop-up and as a text book..., December 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pop-Up Kama Sutra: Six Paper-Engineered Variations (Hardcover)
I collect pop-up books, especially the unusual, strange and well-engineered. This book was sadly none of these. I wish I had read the review before adding to my wish list. Pop-ups are mundane, unimaginative and don't work well. Great idea, poor execution. I prefer the full text by Sir Richard Burton.

4.0 out of 5 stars A brief comment, August 30, 2007
This review is from: The Pop-Up Kama Sutra: Six Paper-Engineered Variations (Hardcover)
This is a funny and creative version of the classic Hindu erotic text. Well, it's a pop-up book, so I guess I don't have to explain that part, but the book is no doubt more notable for the visual effect than the actual text. By the way, most people don't know there is an "Arabic Kama Sutra," entitled The Perfumed Garden, by Sheikh Nafzaouwi (not sure of the actual spelling anymore, so I apologize if I err there), but in many ways it's even more erotic than the much older Hindu text. (You'll understand when you make it to the chapter on "The Types of Vulvas." :-) But you can also check out that book if you're interested.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Cooler Than It Is, June 30, 2008
This review is from: The Pop-Up Kama Sutra: Six Paper-Engineered Variations (Hardcover)
Sounds awesome doesn't it? Don't you imagine that you'll see a pop-up reconstruction of "The Congress of the Elephant"? Unfortunately, the book is not constructed well, has few pop-ups to start with, and is distinctly un-pornographic.

The things you wish would be popping up? They don't. No pop-up complicated sexual entanglements here.

This book will only seem naughty to youngsters and folks who don't get out much --maybe even to older women who giggle when they see racy negligees at the mall.
