old school 80s pop with a modern twist,

This album is great. If you speak French and can understand the lyrics, you will love it. The lyrics are very funny and witty. It mostly talks about Yelle and her relationships and experiences with men... The music is purposely 80s and Yelle "talks" more than she sings. "A cause des garcons" was a very popular 80s song in France and the remix on this album is great. You can also buy separately the "a cause des garcons" Tepr remix, it is even better. Check also the video on youtube: the video even has Tektonik dancers in it, a very popular dance right now in France.

After having been BOMBARDED with these cute little commercials on MTV this past weekend promoting her album, I decided to check it out. I love it!!
I have NO idea what the chick is talking and singing about because I don't speak French, but the music is so melodic and addictive that you won't be able to stop listening to the album. Some tracks are very synth-pop, others are disco throwbacks, others will remind you a little of R&B/jazz hybrids, but all are highly enjoyable. It's also a great gift for young Francophiles. Check her out!

I too checked out Yelle after seeing her 'unique' video style in commercials on a particular cable station and I too have NO IDEA what she is saying what-so-ever but I have to agree with nauti, her music style and the way she sings is just really catchy and fun. It is reminiscent of the 80's when music was about FUN and not about whining, emo issues and drama. It's worth a listen.

Pop-Up,

The first song I heard was Je Veux Te Voir and I instantly got hooked. I had no idea how dirty the lyrics were until I read some reviews about the song and got my sister to translate some parts for me. It is pretty hilarious though. All the songs on this album are pretty cool, it is the kinda album you can listen throughout. The key tracks would be:
-Ce Jeu -A Cause De Garcon (A remake) -Tristesse/Joie -Tu Es Beau -Je Veux Te Voir -Amour Du Sol Yelle makes what I'd call FUN music. Very nice.

I bought this album as a present. I got my home even before than I expected. The price is good for a new-sealed album.

Upbeat electronica with all-French vocals make this lively collection fun to listen, drive, or dance to. If you don't speak the language this isn't an easy sing-along. Still, fun listening and a (positive) reminder of club music from a couple of decades ago.

A fun album of music songs,
This review is from: Pop-Up (Audio CD)
Not all the songs are good, but the ones that are good make it worthwhile. Also, I don't speak French so I have no idea what she's singing about, but it's so catchy and fun that I just couldn't help myself!

I first heard Yelle's song Tristesse/Joie and I had to say I loved it. It was bouncy and energetic and sounded a little funny (though I would not know, as I don't speak French), but I didn't find the rest of the album to be along its taste. My favorites were probably Les Femmes and Tristesse/Joie, and the rest I would write off as hip-hop with funk influences. Not quite pop in my opinion, which I can so barely tolerate (hip-hop and rap less so), and I was disappointed. However, this doesn't negate the good qualities it still has, such as its hyperness and altogether bouncy, upbeat tunes. Again, I do not know French, so I cannot judge it lyric-wise... But I think I might come to like it more if I listen to it more often.

I love Yelle. Her voice is so sweet and the beats definitely get you moving. You will want to learn French. The sound is cute-pop-dance-electro!
