They are well made and sturdy.

I love it for salt, but for some reason the pepper does not come out well and sprays every where but on the food.

I am searching for a salt pepper shakers that seals out humidity so the contents wont clog the holes or clump.

I bought these locally at our BB&B, and loved the idea of 'closing' the salt/pepper (I blame too many Dr. Oz horror stories of cross contamination). Alas, they just don't serve their purpose very well!

Sure, they close. Nicely and easily.

However, they don't shake salt/pepper all that well! Because the holes only circle the outside, we end up with as much salt on the table (ALL around our plates) as we do on our food (perhaps more). Forget trying to salt/pepper just a single item on your plate. We were lucky just to hit the plate at all.

I thought there must be some trick to it - tap it sideways, etc. But, after 3 months I gave these up as a lost cause today. My old shakers may not close, and they might not look as sleek, but they WORK!

Loved the design and it looks very nice on the table (much better than the plastic Tupperware one we were using before). Helps to keep the salt dry, but not indefinitely. Only filled the shaker half full and it was clogged at about 1/4. Had the same problem with the Tupperware one, too. Live in Hawaii so it is very humid. I also have a salt grinder which works very well, but my husband has to use lite salt so a grinder won't work for that. I'll probably try another style in the future.

I bought this because I wanted a lidded salt shaker for humid conditions. The salt totally clumps in humidity, the holes clog, and it doesn't pour, so I don't get the point of the cover....

I found these in a local store (at 3 time the price) and bought a set. Great for keeping moisutre out, easy to use and great looking. I went back to buy more for family members and they were gone. The employee said they "flew" off the shelf.

The pop up salt and pepper shakers are a great conversation piece. It is fun to watch someone who has never used them try to figure out how. They are great for outdoor use and to take on picnics but they make a mess to use daily on the table. We received them in a timely manner and had a good experience.

I got this to replace a salt shaker we had in our van. I don't like it as it throughs salt everywhere but where you want the salt. Also salt pours out. So if you buy it make sure you're careful when you go to use it.

I bought my first set of these S&P shakers in a kitchen store in Raleigh, N.C., and have since bought several via Amazon for gifts -- they're perfect for boating. And since I live on the water, I don't have to add rice to a shaker to keep the salt moving freely. And it takes only one finger to open them. I'm ordering more today as gifts for fellow boaters.

I purchased these (individually roughly $9.99 each on sale regular price is 12.99 each) at Sears in 8/2009 and was disappointed when I used them. They are not humidity proof for Florida subtropical climate in Key West ( here it can be 87-89 degrees to 90-94 degrees and humidity ranges from up to 100% (that is when a nasty storm is in the area) and that is a lot of moisture in the air (damp and sticky). It depends on the year, too). The salt wouldn't go through the holes which constantly clogs and the flavor seems to degrade faster. don't buy these if you live in FL or in the tropics, subtropics(anywhere the humidity is high). I am searching for a salt pepper shakers that seals out humidity so the contents wont clog the holes or clump.
