First off I only write reviews of my purchases when the item is of great value and quality (these are both) or if it is a waste of money, (these are not)!

They are a very heavy dense fabric, all cotton, that is approximently 28 inches long and 16 inches wide.(size of standard pillow case) The material is not too heavy that it does not absorb spills or get into small areas in cups and glassware. They wash and dry nice, without any lose of color or shrinking. These towels are very vibrant in their colors.

I received these over a month ago for 6 bucks and am purchasing another set today.

UPDATE: 11/09/2009 I just purchased my third set of these amazing towels. The set I purchased in 2007 are being to wear and so I got one more set and I'll possibly get another as needed.

These kitchen towels are very absorbent and a true hunter green like they say in the description. They are mildly soft and get the job done when you need them. We use them for spills and drying off hands. Definitely worth the price.
I just wanted to add now it is 2010 (first reviewed this in 2006) and I still have two of the three of these hand towels. They still work and feel just like when I purchased them. I love these hand towels to this day!

I've been married for almost 35 years and have been through many kitchen towels. These are by far the most beautiful absorbent towels I have ever owned. Highly recommend to anyone!

These towels are not absorbent. I bought them because I had another set - also professing to be 100% cotton and absorbent Ritz 5-Piece Egyptian Flat Kitchen Towel Set, Vintage Damask Black - that also 'walked over water'. Seriously - these towels can be used as a substitute for a flotation device they hate water so.

I am usually not disappointed when I buy based on reviews at amazon. This time I was. The towels MIGHT be 100% cotton, but they don't feel like it and they don't act like it. They feel as if the fabric was treated with something and that 'something' repels water.

I am so disappointed.

I wavered between giving them 1 star or 2 only because they are nice to look at. I ultimately decided that it was a flaw in amazon's rating system :-) and gave them 1 star for their good looks, and 0 stars for their suitability for use.

After the rave reviews I had high hopes for these towels. I ordered two sets and have been very diappointed. I thought after a few washings they would be more absorbant. They are not. They just move the water around on the counter. I would not recommend these towels. I will probably buy bathroom handtowels next time.

These towels are really absorbent and work well for drying your hands. They are also thick enough to make great pot holders. I don't like them for drying dishes though. The set I got was black and white and even the one with just a little bit of black in it leaves black fibers all over the dishes. I also have a set of flour sack dish towels, and those never leave fibers on the dishes. I can't stand having the little fibers all over my dishes. If you are looking for something to dry your hands on and use as a pot holder these are great, but if you want to actually dry your dishes try something else.

I searched online for a long while to find these amazing towels. I purchased the moss color to match my kitchen. They are durable, thick, absorbent and luxurious feeling. They are much thicker and better than most kitchen towels and they have a lovely waffle weave/striped/checkered texture. The moss is muted green on a cream color, which is soft and better than the harshness of a white towel.

I loved this set so much I came back to buy another set, however I found Bardwil Popcorn, Pack of 12 Kitchen Towels for $27.41 and they are identical Bardwil Popcorn, Pack of 12 Kitchen Towels, Moss. Instead of paying $3.33 per towel, I got the same identical towels for $2.29 each and received twelve of them! I would highly recommend them and will be purchasing more as gifts for the upcoming holiday season for my Grandma and Mom.

The purpose of a towel is to absorb water. These towels just glide over the water. They are advertised as "cotton." If these towels are cotton, they must have a Teflon coating.

After reading the other reviews I happily ordered these towels. What I received was not what I expected. The towels are lightweight and have numerous "pulls" in the terry cloth. I haven't used them yet because I need to wash them first. Little known fact: any textile (including clothing) that comes into the US from another country is sprayed with pesticides before it clears customs. Always check the label and wash first!

Yeah, these are just kitchen towels, but they are great kitchen towels. If you use a dish washer or dry rack, and are just looking for towels to dry your hands (and the occasional dish) with, these are perfect. They hold up very well in the wash (no shrinking ends or loose threads), look great hanging in the kitchen, and are very soft.
