I loved this dvd! It showed a very intimate look at an extraodinary man and his love for God and humanity. You saw Pope John Paul II for the divine leader that he was, and also his very human and emotional side. This movie leaves you with a "good feeling of hope" that it is possible for our leaders and us to work together to solve issues thru proper communication and love (God's way) rather than trying to solve issues by fighting and hatred. You will have a new respect for the man, the position, and the Catholic Church. A must see movie!

When I saw that Carey Elwes was going to play the Pope, I said, "yeah, right." I only watched it because my husband wanted to. Even though I considered Pope John Paul II a great spiritual leader, I figured the movie would be boring. Not so! Both of us like it so much that it's hard to loan out to friends. We usually want to watch it again before they return it.

A very beautiful film on one of the greatest figure of the XX th century especially the first part !

The actors really did a great job telling the story of this great man from the young to the old. Additionally to cover such a long period of time in a mans life and show the transition was fantastic.

This is a moving account of a great figure. Do not miss this movie. It provides an intimate look behind the greatness of a man. If you ever have wondered about a Pope, this movie will fill your soul with delight. This is a great movie to also watch with a teen or another adult and discuss so many topics that are relevant today. I highly recommend this film. MAD

I cried at the end as it brought back so many memories for me and at his death. I met this great man and this film was so very accurate. But how do you put all the things he did into a movie and keep it within the 2 hour time frame? As much as what was left out it is still a great movie the best one I have seen so far. Jon Voight plays a great Pope and in some of the shots almost really looks like him! If they added all the cut scenes and added all the things the pope did and visits ect..... this movie could be well over 10 hours long! But at any rate it is a very good movie!

This is an excellent story about the life of John Paul 2 from childhood to the papacy. I highly recomend it.
