Peter Cassidy has photographed a number of titles on the Ryland Peters & Small list and is one of the finest food photographers in Europe.

Isidora Popovic set up Popina in 2000 with a grant from Prince Charles' Prince's Trust. Popina started out with a stall in London's Portobello Market and their products are now sold at farmer's markets and by Fortnum & Mason, Harrods and Whole Foods Market in London. Of Serbian origin, Isidora's father was a poet, her grandfather milled flour, and her great-great grandfather was a Duke.

I ordered this after I saw the author and her London bakery featured on an episode of Rachel Allen: Bake! on The Cooking Channel. First of all, her story is wonderful. She is an artist turned baker, and her food is beautiful. Secondly, I love savory breads and tarts; and it's hard to find books where they appear as anything but an afterthought. This book is a treasure! It is a lovely collection of recipes featuring organic ingredients. If you love savory tarts and other baked items, you will love this book! There are some wonderful sweet treats in it as well.

The pictures are nice, and the recipes seem sound. I made one of the tarts in which the principle ingredient was greek yogurt (which is a little different) and roasted veggies. It was really good. I'm planning to cook out of this book more.

This is an excellent baking book. The recipes are (relatively) simple, original, and delicious. There are many items in this book that I typically wouldn't be very interested in, but when I read the description and see the sumptuous photograph, I just want to eat them now!
