This review is from: Popscape:best Of... (Audio CD)
Ralph Covert and his bandmates have been playing the Midwest and even overseas for more than 10 years now. Popscape is a collection of some of the gems and should have been top 40 hits. Like the Replacements, this band will probably go unappreciated with the exception of its hardcore fan base. One listen of Popscape will surely draw a Bad Examples "virgin" into their mix. Highlights of the disc include a never before released "Let Her Go" with its power chord attack, "No Distractions" in a similar fashion, the addictive "Not Dead Yet" which was covered by Styx, ballads such as "'Til The Cup Is Broke" and "Cold Shivers", and the ultra-catchy "A Mindless Pop Song". "Adam McCarthy" is a touching tribute to a victim of leaukemia and demonstrates that Covert is more than a "boy likes girl" pop song writer. Take a chance on this disc and you won't be disappointed. This is one which you can listen to from start to finish. There are not many discs like that around.
