5.0 out of 5 stars Alcoholism and Child Abuse Horror
This book makes Precious look diminutive. I have never read such a horrific story. The fact that she lived through it and raised her own two children by herself is unbelievable. Describing her as resilient is an understatement. Her experience made her durable and feisty as she got older. Thank God.

1.0 out of 5 stars I feel ripped off....
I was really irritated when I downloaded this book - for a number of reasons.

1) it's poorly written. While I like to support authors that self-publish, especially in the e-market, there is still something to be said about quality of writing. Sentences were poorly constructed and it seemed that about half of them ended with exclaimation points.

I was really irritated when I downloaded this book - for a number of reasons.

1) it's poorly written. While I like to support authors that self-publish, especially in the e-market, there is still something to be said about quality of writing. Sentences were poorly constructed and it seemed that about half of them ended with exclaimation points.

2) The formatting of the book is done incorrectly. It text-wraps, cutting lines off midway and starting over on the next line. While this may or may not be a mistake of the publisher, it should have been dealt with.

3) it's only 30 pages long. Actually, 36 - but a number of those are blank, two are police reports and then there are the lead-in pages... leaving about 30 pages of text.

In all - I feel ripped off.

Additionally, while I initially felt sorry for the author, little of the story was from her personal experience. She relayed a lot of second hand information, droned on in a un-interesting narrative and essentially just gave a list of events with little meat to hold them together. It feels like this is the outline for a book that she planned on writing, but never got around to. When the opportunity to self-publish and make a few dollars came along, that's exactly what happened... and since e-books are non-refundable, we all get taken for a ride.

After reading the sample I was excited to read the book. How disapointed and ripped off am I feeling now? Very. I found this book to be badly written, more like a list than a story, desperately in need of editing and as for those exclamation marks...Dont waste your money on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars How awful! I can't imagine. who all was involved in this situation should fry, I am not sure how anyone can hurt a child....., December 31, 2010
This review is from: Popsicle Toes (Kindle Edition)
This is so horrible. How could anyone do this? This world is going crazy. this story just sickens me. We are living in a century where children can be raped, torchered and abused, usually at the hands of someone they know - teaching a child to be wary of 'stranger danger' just isn't good enough anymore. just disgusting! danny is a Monster. This is a terrifying story. Anne's half brother Danny is a full blown psychopath with free reign over her when she was a child! He uses and abuses his sister throughout her childhood. This is an excellent story and a good read. How could someone do this to a little girl. It is a short read, or maybe it was because I couldn't put it down. I had to find out what happened next and then what happened in the end. Very intense and disturbing. Be prepared to be shocked. A very good book. A difficult read, but one you can't put down. It is amazing that she survived such abuse. They need to keep that NUT Danny in prison FOREVER. Buy this book and read it. Support keeping Danny in prison till he dies. Support the writer Anne and her efforts to keep Danny in prison FOREVER.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, December 1, 2011

I was intrigued by the description of this book and started reading it right away and that's when I realized how bad it was. I mean the story is bad but the writing was worse! I felt like this book was written by a high school student quickly writing a 20 page essay and trying to get an A. If the author had just slowed down and let me get to know the family more maybe it would have been a better buy, but she didn't so it isn't. Sorry.

So..I haven't finished this book yet, but I will state what my feelings are..the story is sad..so I do appreciate how painful the writing of this book must have been for the author. However, The book is poorly written. The author's vocabulary is apparently small because at least once a page seems to include "real" as a descriptive word ie: real hard, real scared, real fast etc. Plus all the exclamation marks are a bit overkill. I know the excitement and fear and do not need a "!" after each sentence..The chapter changes blend with the words so it's hard to know where it ends and begins. The story is saddening and genuine, though poorly written. It reads as it would be written by a teenager..

3.0 out of 5 stars a story like this must be told, January 1, 2011
This review is from: Popsicle Toes (Kindle Edition)
yes, an experienced editor or co-writer would help this book tremendously. But there is something to be said for the obvious theraputic value the telling of her story has done for the author. She should be commended for her triumph overcoming such a dismal life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible writing!, January 26, 2011

I am appalled that a publisher would even represent a book so poorly written. The spelling is awful, there is an overuse of exclamation points and the sequence of events do not comport with reality. The addition of police reports is oft putting and is essentially irrelevant.

I am so annoyed that I wasted my time and 3.99 to read this on Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A MUST READ FULL OF MATURE AND GRAPHIC MATERIAL--NOT FOR KIDS--BUTS ADULTS? HECK YEAH!, August 27, 2011
This review is from: Popsicle Toes (Kindle Edition)
this book was so graphic and to the point-i had to stop and takes breaks while reading it. the reviews on here are not accurate--THIS IS A GOOD BOOK---it says it got edited and rewritten by an editor as of 8/25/11 so maybe that is why it is so good when i read it this morning. im not finished reading it but i cant put it down once i start reading. i never read such horrific accounts of child and animal rape and abuse in my life. this poor girl--i cant believe she lived through such a horrific child and young adult childhood. she is lucky to still be alive. may god bless her.....this guy danny-raped dogs and buried them alive! he vandalized and broke to pieces tombstones in graveyards. what a lunatic he was.

this is probably the worst written book ever. It jumps all over the place & skips yrs at a time.

You never understand how old the writer is at the time.

It was a waste of money & i wouldnt recommend it to anyone
