Popstars 2: Scene 23,
By A Customer
This review is from: Popstars 2: Introducing Scene 23 (Audio CD)
I basically bought the cd with high hopes but I was disapointed in the end. When you buy the cd, it looks like it has plenty of track listings but actually there are 7 songs in which they perform. 3 other songs are of Mariah Carey, Joe, and R. Kelly. The other tracks are stupid clips from the show with music in the background (#1, #9,#11,#14). There are some good tracks though. 2,He said she said is the best track out of there. That is the song in which you found the top 15 performing before announcing the winners. Their single, I really don't think so is okay, soon to be (the one where they would make the music video..thats what i heard). Well..overall its your opinion but yea..you should listen or just download the songs online before buying, unless you really want the interactice part of the cd, which is NOT worth it. There is really no, "HOW TO". Just watch the show, u can learn more from it. Well, here u go:The Music The Popstars 2 Experience Enhanced CD Includes: Links Thats what is in the cd...i give a 3/5. It's kinda sad they only have only 7 new songs for the band, because even Eden's Crush got 13 songs in which the original listing was 16. In the cd expect to hear Donavan in all the tracks, and Monika. Next would be laurie. You barely hear Joshua, only lead part he has is in I really don't think so, and Dorathy, are u really in the band?? She is barely heard! How sad :-)

Scene 23 Is Amazing!,

This review is from: Popstars 2: Introducing Scene 23 (Audio CD)
When I heard there was going to be another popstars the first thing I thought was that it's going to be another Eden's Crush. But when I bought this album I was surprised. Scene 23 is an excellent group who can sing, dance and the songs are great!.Especially their first single "I Really Don't Think So" which hopefully (the video) won't be a TRL flop like Eden's Crush's video for "Get Over Yourself" was (Though Eden's Crush is still da bomb!!!!!). Anyway this cd is also enhanced, when you put in ur computer and you can actually relive the popstars experiance. You can learn how to dance and sing kareoke. There's also pictures of the group and lots more. The cd also features three songs form other artists that were used during the auditions."I Still Believe" by Mariah Carey "I Wanna Know" by Joe "I Believe I Can Fly" by R.Kelly I wish instead of putting those songs on the album that there were more songs by Scene 23 on it. That's why I gave it a 4. But it's still good.

I just love this Scene23 CD. All the songs are great! I'm not saying that just because I'm a big fan of Scene23, and all. I'm saying that as a Music Lover, a DJ, and a Music Freak. You Should get this CD. It's all good! It's even ENHANCED. It's fun to pop it into your computer and learn more about that HOT GROUP Scene23. You've gotta get this CD, from "He Said, She said" to "Respect Me" (That song was wrote by Donavan Green one of the Scene23 member), everything is good!

Great Songs...Too Short!,

Popstars 2: Introducing Scene 23 is a soundtrack to the WB series Popstars 2. It feature 7 'Original' songs by the winners: Donavan, Dorthy, Laurie, Monika, and Josh who go by the name Scene 23.Each songs on the CD is great, and I think they have the talent to make it big. It stinks that there are only 7 songs by them, because it left me wanting more. Here's the review: *He Said, She Said: A great pop song with attitude. Donavan (trying to sound like Michael Jackson) and Laurie take lead vocals on this track. Pure fun and great harmony. *The Greatest: Laurie and Donavan again! This is a great song. The lyrics are corny as hell, but its cool. Another typical pop song. *I Really Don't Think So: Their first single! This song blends alternative with pop. Dorthy, and Josh actually get to sing on this track as well as everyone else! They have nice voices. *All This Love: Donavon and Monika take lead. This is a nice RnB, Pop song. My least favorite song on the album, but still good. *What She Got: My favorite song on the album. Very cool harmonized intro, and vocals. This should be the second single. *Another Night: Incorporates 2-step into this song well. Donavan has the best vocals on this track. Nice. *Respect Me: My second favorite song. This one was written by Donavon, and is very different from the rest of the songs. This track is more hip hop and RnB. Josh's voice can be heard in the background, lol! Laurie has the best vocals in this track. The rest of the tracks are pointless and useless. But, there are some good enhanced media that you can put on your computer. Hopefully Scene 23 will get to create a full length CD!

This enhanced CD from Popstars 2 group Scene 23 will blow you away, especially if you were one of the people that labled them "manufactured", "fake", and "without talent." These five performers, about 20 yrs old, are extremely talented, and anyone who hears their debut CD will be surprised to find they aren't fake at all. Scene 23 is a group with a completely new sound that can be heard on tracks like "The Greatest" and "I Really Don't Think So" (their single)- which are completely different and show some of the group's versatility. "Respect Me" is a pop song with a great beat written by Donavan Green, a member of the group. Popstars 2 viewers will remember "He said, She said" from the audition process and specifically the ending performance. "What she got" is a sassy pop song with catchy lyrics. "Another Night" has a very unique beat and message. There's also other tunes and cool remixed voice clips. Each of the performers get equal air time and star in different songs, so there's definitely not one "main singer." They all bring something completely different, in their backgrounds and in their singing. All in all, this is an awesome CD from a group that will be huge one day.

Why didn't they get a whole album??,

I've been addictied to the Popstars 2 show and was so excited that a CD of their music was coming out so soon. Then, I was hugely disappointed that the album only contained 7 songs by Scene 23. The "tracks" that consist of merely clips from the show are pointless, and if I wanted to here Mariah, Joe, and R Kelly, I'd buy their respective albums. However, I do have to give them 4 stars for the 7 tracks that are original Scene 23. He Said She Said sounds great now that it's been recorded by the group. Another Night is an amazing journey into two step, something NSync were unable to do well. I was disappointed to hear on Respect Me that, unlike on the show, Donovan took the lead rather than Josh (who has a better voice). The best song is their debut single, I Really Don't Think So. In it, everyone has their own parts, starting off with Dorothy, then Josh, Monika, and then Laurie and Dorothy again. In the video, they show Donovan singing the beginning, but thankfully, the album version has Josh singing the whole of the first verse. The only downfall is that Donovan takes the lead on too many songs, and his whiny voice does get grating after a while. However, Laurie, who won me over with her voice on the show, does take the lead often as well (check out The Greatest) and she sounds amazing. The album is worth the buy, but I'm upset that they won't give this group a full album. I think, we could really see the different member's voices come out and their talent would be put to better use on a proper album. Come on, if Eden's Bore can get a full album, give this group one as well. Let's hope there's one around the corner!

I love the show and I am a big fan of Eden's Crush, so there was no question that I was going to buy the CD when it came out. I read some reviews before hand, but tried to keep an open mind. I have to say that I think the group got the short end of the stick with only making 7 new songs, especially when EC got like 13. The songs are good, but the CD is very short. The interludes are ok to listen to, they have good background music, but they are also very short. The extra songs are ok, but nothing special since they are a few years old mostly. I know I probably won't listen to the extra songs. I think the group has potential and if they get to use their own creative juices then I think they could be look. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the single comes out. Bottom line, if you like pop music and are a fan of the show then you'll probably enjoy the cd, but don't be disapointed when it's only a half an hour long.

Scene 23 on the scene.,

Over all the album would probably deserve three stars instead of four, but since I like all of scene 23's original songs and never once have to skip, I decided on four stars.
I'll start with 'He Said She Said'. This is one of my favorite songs on the album because of the catchy and edgy chorus, but also because the verses are equally divided between the male and female singers which makes it seem as if they're not only singing to you, but also to each other. I really love that about this song. Plus, everyone gets a chance to sing on this track. The second song 'The Greatest' is probably the only song I tend to skip every now and then. It's not a bad song, but it's just not as good as the other ones, in my eyes at least. As for 'I Really Don't Think So', I like it because of the pop/rock combination it has to it. This is by far the most edgy song on this album, but has a feel good feeling to it at the same time. The lyrics are pretty simple, but do the trick and a lot of people will be able to relate to the 'Why does everything got to be a love thing? Why can't we dig each other and just hang? Is it really where you wanna go, no, I really don't think so' part. Moving on to 'All this Love' which can be seen as the only ballad on this album when it comes to the slow R&B beat. The vocals of the males really get the chance to stand out and some parts are sung with both power and soul. 'What She Got' is also one of the more catchier upbeat songs and the lyrics will get stuck in your head with ease. And most girls will probably be able to relate to the lyrics. I'll give you a little preview: 'What she got that I ain't got? Walks around like she owns the spot. Sweats herself 'cause she thinks she's hot. What she got that I ain't got, baby'. 'Another Night' can be considered a ballad, though to me the beat is slightly too quick for one. The lyrics don't go too deep, but the song is still worth listening, too. And last but not least, 'Respect Me' holds a 'back off and leave me alone' kind of message to it. It gives you a boost of energy and makes you feel good. As for the other three songs on the album, they aren't sung by the group itself, but are original songs from Mariah Carey, Joe, and R. Kelly. The songs are memorable and songs where you can totally get lost in. The rest of the tracks are snippets taken from the actual show 'Pop Star'. They don't take more than a few handfuls of seconds so they're no distraction. True, there are as many songs by Scene 23 on here as I would like, but it's still a pretty decent pop album to get and all of them do know how to sing.

Lacking...But Good,

Hey, whatever happened to Scene 23 in the first place? I really liked those guys. Oh well. Maybe they disappeared because of the disappointing sales of this CD. And come on, there is so much air space its sad. Seven songs and that's it? Now, a group like Play having a disc with only seven or so songs I can understand. But when you have a TV show, nation wide search and all, they couldn't put together more than seven originals and some crappy songs by R.Kelly, Joe, and Mariah Carey? The record company did not treat them right. Their songs are pretty good but the only two that actually have any validity are I Really Don't Think So and The Greatest. The others are good but kind of sloppily and thinly sang and arranged. Another Night is horrible. A big disappointment in this whole thing is the fact that hideous, no talent Donovan made the group in the first place. Looking at and listening to him makes me vomit. All in all, this CD is okay.
