Is it good or just hear say?,
This review is from: Popstars (Audio CD)
The tremendous success of hear say in the UK can mean only one thing. Long term PAIN for my ear drums. But before all you Americans start laughin this band has a lot of £££ sorry $$$ backing them and world wide domination is on the cards. With any look they will last less time than the Spice Girls did on their brief but unforgetable reign of terror. Callin the album "Popstars" is arrogant, I'd have called it "Popstars?" or "Flopstars" or even "Who the F*** do ya think your kiddin".The album is the usual assorted junk that you get with all manufactured bands, desperatly switching genres in a vain attempt to find one their good at. Before I become over critical I must admit that there first single Pure and Simple is not the worst song (it's second to Spice world). The rest of album is on the same level so if for som inane reason you liked it this album should be right up your demented little street

another manufactured pop band, another pop band for that matter and just more and more [stuff], repetitive and annoying music. This era of pop music has got to end and more bands like hear 'say, westlife etc are just giving music a bad name. DO NOT BUY THIS PLEASE.

Money Well Spent!,

As soon as I put this in the CD player I knew I was going to enjoy it. It starts off with the well known "Pure & Simple" which got me into the mood of the album. I like the fact that it has a mix of both slow songs, and up-beat songs. The tracks are all really short, except from "Bridge Over Troubled Water," but this doesn't matter too much. Personally I prefer to have a slightly longer track, but these were okay. :) A personal favourite song of mine is "Love Will Never End." i enjoyed the start of this song, as I felt that I could really click to it. Also another one to look out for is "Sweet Alibi." This is one of my favourite songs, too. All in all, I suggest that fans of pop music should go and buy this. Trust me, you will love it!

Popstars UK. A Manufactured band that can sing!,

This album is incredible, even more so by the fact it was compiled in 4 months, rather than what can be years. Hear'say have taken the British charts by storm, and are bound to do the same round the rest of the world. There first hit, Pure and Simple is a catchy tune that u don't mind singing in the streets. This is by far the best POPSTARS album released anywhere in the world (I have listened to most of them!!!) Just remember... Wherever you go, I wanna be there. Whatever you do, I know I'm gonna be there, It's pure and simple I'll be there for you

Should be called BEEN'SAID...,

Bootleg All Saints or what? The single "Pure and Simple" is so "All Sainteque" I had to do a double take when I first heard it. As for the other songs, does the word mediocrity mean anything to anyone????? I'm sorry but I watched this atrocious phenomenon of Popstars take place in the UK and though I hoped something good would come out of it all I have admit my disappointment gene went into acute overdrive. It suffered major cardiac arrest I might add when their single "Pure and Simple" hit the UK charts and proceeded to end up in the Number One position, well there is no accounting for British taste, which is peculiar to say the least. Maybe I am being too harsh but even the Spice Girls who were as manufactured as they came had a distinct sound of their own. This group should have been called "BEEN'SAID" because it has, and that makes is all the more cringeworthy....

this is the first helping of graet bubbble gum pop from noal, kym, suzzanne, danny and myleene. it is a cool blend of soft slow ballards and fast, up tempo dance tunes. it includes the no. 1 'pure and simple' and the furture it ' show me the way to your love'. other great treacks include, not the kind and make it happen. this is a must have for all fans of the hit t.v series popstars and is a chance to listen to the finished result of the shows finished band. a great album!!!!!1

I heard bout Hear'Say from one of my friends that lives in the UK. I like their song "Pure & Simple" I could sing along to that for hours! Also their song "The way To Your Love" is good. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because they totally ruined Bridge Over Troubled Water! They took out so many verses then switched it all around!

When I first heard Pure & Simple, I didn't think it was good, but I grew to like it. When I heard the album it had an instant impact on me. Hear'Say are a very talented group who deserve their massive success.

. . . and myself, we followed the progress of this group from auditions on the UK TV reality show POPSTARS right up to their no. 1 single PURE AND SIMPLE, addicted to every minute. OK, so people complain that they are manufactured. So what. Most music is manufactured, whatever genre, these days, and the point is to make money from the masses, HEARSAY are nothing more than what they set out to be in the firts place, a manufactured pop act who CAN sing. You have to be able to sing to get into this business in the first place. I've been there and done that. But the LP as a whole is well worth a listen. The first half, featuring the singles PURE AND SIMPLE and THE WAY TO YOUR LOVE is very poppy and somewhat lacklustre in a small part, but later on the CD picks up the pack with a rockier number COLOURBLIND, a disco-orientated MAKE IT HAPPEN ideal for a sixteen year old's Saturday night out and two good cover versions of the Mamas and the Papas' MONDAY MONDAY and also Simon and Garfunkel's BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER which are both done well and do not massacre either song. And what is a breath of fresh air is that there are no awful gangsta rap backing vocals that predominate our once respectable but falling downhill charts. Overall, HEARSAY are well worth a listen if you're into this sort of thing!

Nice debut cd,

All song rated with a 0-10 scale, 10 being best and 0 being crap...
1. Pure And Simple - 10 - This is a very good song, nice beat and excellent harmonies. 2. The Way To Your Love - 10 - For the longest time I had only heard a dance remix of this song, so when I heard the original i wasn't that impressed, but then after a while I began to hear the quality of the song, and now it's a personal fave. 3. One Step closer - 2 - Horrible song...need I say more? 4. Another Lover - 5 - It'snot a horrible song, and they sound great together, but it just lacks something special. 5. One - 0 - Crap...plain and simple 6. Not The Kind - 3 - Sounds like a Christian-song-trying-to-go-pop-gone-wrong and it is a complete mess 7. Make It Happen - 10 - Disco is always the way to go when you need a good song to fill your album and this song is good. I lvoe the scartchyness in the lead singers voice for this song. She did something different. They actually sound like Alcazar in this song. 8. Breathe - 7 - I bit Backstreet Boys, but this is a good song. I listen to it often enough to say it wasn't a mistake. 9. Carried Away - 10+10 - OK so this must be the best song on this cd, because the music, vocals, and harmony is perfect. This is one of the most beautiful ssongs ive heard in a while. 10. Sweet Alibi - 0 - Crap...once again 11. I Didn't Want You Anyway - 5 - The Chorus is good, but the rest isn't... 12. Colourblind - ??? - I have never heard this song, I heard this cd once and i didnt get to hear this track, and when i copied it froma a friend this one didnt copy cause his cd was scratched. 13. Love Will Never End - 7 - This song wan't bad, nor was it great, but worthy... 14. Monday Monday - 10+10+10 - Okay once in a while there is a group that actually matches or surpasses the original singer of a particular song, and this grop has done beyond amazing on this song...VERY GOOD 15. Bridge Over troubled Water - 8 - Ok to be honest I can only compare it to Clay Aiken's version, cause I haven't heard the original. But they definately made it better than Clay... |
