Finally, a NON-boring book on Classical Music! I have never learned so much, so easily! A Reader---From Cave People to Modern times, all the great eras of music: Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic, Modern...The never dull lives of Great Composers, Women Composers & Conductors through the ages, Black Composers & Conductors, the origin of musical instruments, hundreds of Performers and musical personalities, Opera, Operetta, Ballet, Musicals, Movie Music -- all delightfully described. What a treasure! Charles Bubb, former Principal Trumpet, San Francisco Symphony--- Dr. Gray's ability to put complicated musical thought into concise & descriptive prose is both educational & entertaining. Audiences have long needed this kind of book. Leonard Slatkin, Director, Nat'l Symphony--- Reading this book is like going to a concert with a knowledgeable friend!
