This review is from: Popular Jewelry of the '60s, '70s & '80s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
This book is the third entry in the series of "Popular Jewelry" by Roseann Ettinger. The author does a great job covering costume jewelry trends from the 1960s to the 1980s. Mod, medieval, eastern, abstract, floral, zodiac, bicentennial are just a few of the themes found in the jewelry that were popular in those years. Well-photographed samples of necklaces, pins, brooches, earrings and bracelets from each decade will amaze and inspire collectors and designers alike. Ettinger also provides short informative articles on each trend and devotes a couple of pages each to Avon, Sarah Coventry and Miriam Haskell jewelry.
I enjoyed this book very much although I thought it would have been even more beneficial to the readers if the author had included measurements in the descriptions. Nevertheless, this book definitely belongs in every jewelry lover and collector's library. It is a wonderful visual reference to the jewelry of three decades that only now collectors are beginning to appreciate and seek.

I Am From This Era . . . .,
By G. Gupton "Author of spiritual growth books." (Georgia, United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Popular Jewelry of the '60s, '70s & '80s (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
Not only was I attracted to this book because I grew up in the 60's, but because I also sell vintage costume jewelry on my web site, Atlanta Vintage Jewelry.
Roseann Ettinger's book contains a lot of pictures that were nostalgic to me. It features deco jewelry, punk, novelty and bi-centennial pieces, plus mod and Avon jewelry popular when I was in school, and a whole lot more, including themes like 'Back to Nature'. This book is not only great for vintage jewelry collectors or people who deal in jewelry, like myself, but also as a great reminder of when we were teens. I love it.
