We got this as a gift for our friend's 4 year old. He played with it consistently for the 3 days they were at our house, and he continues to play with it at home. It's great because it has wheels on the bottom so he can play with on the floor, but it also floats so he can use it as a bath toy. (his parents were pleased that water can't really get inside the toy, apparently bath toys get moldy/grody pretty quickly) The package tells you how to combine the pieces to make different kinds of boats but he was more interested in coming up with his own designs - he didn't care if it was an oil tanker or a tug boat.

I got this for my grandson for his 6th birthday. It is "grown up" enough so that it doesn't make him feel like a "baby". The size is perfect...not too big or too small. I like the magnetic parts, although there is no way to put ALL the parts on the boat at once, and you always have a couple extra to deal with. He really looks forward to his bath now.

My 7 and 10 year old sons, who both like boats & ships, really enjoy this toy. I thought they would be too old for it, but apparently not! They enjoy making different kinds of boats with the pieces.
(one minor problem is that two of the wheels on the bottom were glued (by the manufacturer) so that they are stuck)

Appropriate Toy for Many Ages
