5.0 out of 5 stars amazing book
I'm in college and even I enjoy this book so much, the way it's written descriptively makes it so hard to put down, and I like reading it over and over. All the things Nadia went through to become popular was like a reading adventure, and I think it's neat how Genny gave her her own wardrobe and spoke of such interesting things. But that's just the tip of the iceberg,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic and Slightly Annoying
I borrowed this book from the library, expecting it to be a fun story. But after reading the first few chapters, I found that I was rolling my eyes at the unrealistic storyline, unlikable and self-centered Genny, and the goofy stories she had to tell. I didn't finish the book, and took it back to the library without an ounce of regret. I guess I'll never know if the...

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is too cool, December 4, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
This girl named nadia from new york is treated differently by her midwestern classmates who are too different from her. So when she gets a genie of her own and wants to be popular she gets her clothes custom made and starts wearing colourful clothes and barrettes as opposed to wearing black and joins the school paper and makes friends with the popular girls. But then she has to choose between the geeks and the popular ones and circumstances make it hard. Finally nadia decides who she likes when she learns the hard way that some of them tried to set her up and since then she started dressing like herself again though with much more colour and all the while nadia and her genie enjoyed chats, girl talk, pizza and dancing to madonna music. Nice read

5.0 out of 5 stars Just when you think popularity is everything........, January 24, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
This book can really teach you a thing or too about popularity. Nadia just moved to a new town. Different from her old New York city life, she is shunned away from popularity from her "strange styles". Just when she feels she`s had enough, she meets Genny who happens to be a genie. Thinking she`s now going to join the popularity with her new genie, she has a more confident attitude. But then she learns popularity isn`t everything. She now has to choose between her nerdy, but true cousin Frieda, and the popular girls......and there`s a cute boy between everything!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun reading, September 13, 2002
This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
Genny is a genie. She lives in a bottle called Throttle, and it is very plush inside that bottle. When escaping from an angry wizard,Genny had little choice but to be zapped into a genie, and now she has been alive, granting wishes for about 300 years. But the twist is that she can't actually use magic to do this. She pretty much has to plan things out,and wishers don't always get exactly what they want. But they always end up happy, that's Genny's own breed of magic!!This time she's helping Nadia,a girl who wants to be noticed.Plenty of fun to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genny is the best!!, July 20, 2002
This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
I love this book so much! It's funny and it teaches you life lessons in the process. Genny's like the best friend i never had. She messes up and she's not afraid to admit it! I can't wait to read the other two books. They should be good cause Kristen Kemp is an amazing writer. keep up the good job!

2.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic and Slightly Annoying, November 30, 2004
This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
I guess I'll never know if the book gets any better, but I didn't want to keep wasting my time finding out. I found myself to be uninterested, and practically forcing myself to turn the next page.

If you like magic stories about a teen girl, I recommend Zenda. It's a fun, detailed series that is better then you might think. And if you really want to try the Genny In A Bottle series, get it from the library first before purchasing.

This review is from: How to Be Popular Without Losing Your Mind (Genny in a Bottle) (Paperback)
Nadia is a new girl in a new state from New York. Everyone here is different and she doesn't fit in so when she gets a genie that pops up, she begin to wear colourful stylish clothes, makeup and barettes and she made friends with the popular girls as well as some intelligent, interesting people in her seventh grade class. But then things go wrong although there is a happy ending. Read to find out more.
