5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful analysis of women's organizing and the Iranian r, August 2, 1999
By A Customer
Haideh Moghissi's Populism and Feminism in Iran is truly impressive. A well-written consideration of the role of left-wing women in the Iranian revolution, it convincingly argues that the revolution would have taken a different course had the leftist opposition to the Shah not shared the Islamic opposition's deeply rooted sexism. At the same time it raises a series of fascinating questions about revolution, autonomy, orientalism and the meaning of feminism in the third world.
