Alejandro At His Best,

Wow! I have been a hopeless Alejandro fan for several years now collecting anything of his I can get my hands on. I had not heard of this live release until only recently, and I was able to pick it up for a very fair price through Amazon right away. Alejandro has always been excellent both in the studio and in a live setting. For many people, though, they have not had the chance to see him live and so anytime a new live record comes out it's a great joy to us fans. Por Vida Live was initially just available through his fan club, but is now more widely accessible. I have listened to this record, and each song sounds amazing. One of the best things about AE live has always been his constant reinterpreting of his own songs. Rarely, if ever, will he play a song the same way twice- and he often will create entirely new and vastly different approaches to his own songs live. This is exactly why his music always stays fresh and interesting live, and this cd is no exception. He chooses a very excellent song list for one- many of his best, but less popular songs are featured here. If you have all of his live releases, this is very welcome because many of these songs have not been properly released outside of the studio before and it is pure joy hearing these lesser known songs given their deserved attention here. I can't say enough about how sweet this record is, and how amazing Alejandro's voice sounds. The recording is top notch- it is masterfully recorded and mixed for a live record. If you haven't gotten this record, and whether or not you are a casual fan or not- you deserve to treat yourself to this album. You will thank yourself for making the effort, guaranteed!

not being an alejandro scholar, this, to me, represents the quintessential AE, a wonderful best of. in some ways more powerful, yet gentle and spaced (seduce me baby). it may be that i'm prejudiced, as he gives, in this cd, testimony that affirms my warm feelings towards Ian Hunter. enjoy
